Job Description


Legal Skills

  • Independently prepare, review and negotiate daily contracts (mostly based on templates) and/or other legal documents with business partners in commercial, marketing and branding, PR teams for all types of business activities.
  • Perform quality review of contract, and negotiation of commercial dispute/challenges with pragmatic mind set to seek solution appropriate for business needs.
  • Collaborate with APAC risk control & compliance manager, able to identify areas for improvement in overall APAC governance and compliance framework, provide constructive insights and suggestions, able to implement instructions from APAC leadership to elevate governance and compliance in all business environment, such as distribution management, private client engagement, contract management and approval process, compliance with approval matrix etc.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, with help from external parties, and work alongside China Senior Legal Counsel on data compliance regime, privacy protection and data security compliance and training
  • Provide training to all teams on utilizing new global contract management system
  • Liaison with Global Brand Protection and local business teams to support brand and IP protection matters, such as infringement and anti-counterfeiting
  • Actively participate in creative sales, marketing and distribution programs and events, from legal perspective and contribute to screen potential legal risks from horizon
  • Ability to engage external legal services effectively and cost-efficiently to accomplish corporate goals, strategies, and priorities
  • Work alongside with CLO APAC, take active lead in identifying proper corporate procedures, setting up and maintaining sophisticated corporate governance policies and oversee the implementation of such policies, approving applicable actions
  • Coordinate collaborations with external counsels, keep tracking of legal matter tracking and updates on weekly basis, perform legal spending analysis, and manage and oversee legal budget, and utilize external counsel spending

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of law degree from a top law school, admitted to practice law in one country, ideally with international education and qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years\' solid legal practice experience gained in top tier law firm, plus 1-2 years of in-house exposures (secondment or in-house position) with decent commercial sense and curiosity
  • Solid commercial contract drafting in English, review and negotiation skills, preferrable also have Chinese capabilities in legal drafting
  • Strong organizational/analytical skills with specific attention to details
  • A good team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with different levels of stake holders throughout the company
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently under pressure and prioritize multiple projects, and work effectively in a fast-paced, result-oriented environment
