Job Description

Our client, a reinsurance firm, is seeking an Assistant Manager to join their Finance department. The role of the Finance Manager is to provide and maintain accurate financial data in accordance with the Company\'s and statutory accounting policies. The role reports to the Senior Manager, with Executives directly reporting to the Assistant Manager.

Specific Responsibilities

Malaysia operations

To assist Head of Finance in ensuring the financial reporting and finance operations of ACRM are running smoothly, including but not restricting to the following activities;

1.) Responsible for the preparation of management account (Internal) and yearly Financial Reporting Pack (ACRG) in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) requirement

2.) Co-ordinate and manage month-end and year-end closing activities within the department and inter-department including ongoing improvement on processes and key control areas

3.) Review of bank reconciliation to ensure no item more 1 months, debtor revaluation and creditor revaluation on the reasonableness, investment accounting reconciliation to ensure that completeness, payment to ensure withholding tax compliance

4.) To ensure that the journal raised by support staff with right accounting entries and in accordance with accounting standard

5.) Control the revaluation function in the SUN system \xe2\x80\x93 bank, debtor, creditor, time deposit and etc

6.) Manage the treasury function \xe2\x80\x93 ensure sufficient fund in bank for payment, including placement with banker

7.) Compute the yearly tax computation (local gaap) / CP204 includes liaison with tax agent

8.) Responsible for timely submission of the following reports:

• Bank Negara Reports to include: a) Insurance Companies Statistical System (ICSS) \xe2\x80\x93 Quarterly and Annual, b) External Assets and Liabilities (EAL) \xe2\x80\x93 Quarterly, c) Risk Based Capital (RBC) \xe2\x80\x93 Quarterly and Annual
• Survey of International Trade in Services \xe2\x80\x93 Quarterly
• PIAM E-Payment migration report \xe2\x80\x93 Monthly and Quarterly

9.) Prepare the Financial Statement and the annual audit (Yearly)

10.) Liaise with banker, external auditors, tax agents and company secretary on statutory compliance

11.) Any other ad-hoc assignments and projects

Singapore operations

To assist Senior manager, Finance in ensuring the financial reporting and finance operations of ACRG are running smoothly, including but not restricting to the following activities;

1) Responsible for Singapore tax matters/liaison with tax agent

2) Improves SUN system overall efficiencies and enhancements for new requirements for Group reporting;

3) Assists Senior Manager in the Finance function ensuring timely and accurate monthly closing;

• Ensures monthly closing activities are performed on time and accurately including prompt submissions of subsidiaries IFRS accounts with adequate reviews of the Subs and the Group\'s results;
• Works with Senior Manager on centralization of IFRS and US GAAP reporting in Singapore;
• Continuously works on improvement in closing timelines, automation of reports and processes and building the required internal controls to detect or prevent data errors;
• Provides coaching to staff and ensuring staff gets required support;

4) Review of year-end financial statements for IFRS and US GAAP

5) Support the audit and liaison with Singapore auditors and Head Office auditors

6) Support IFRS 17 data preparation and perform analysis of IFRS 17 results

7) Any other ad-hoc assignments and projects

Required Skills / Work Experience

• Minimum 6-8 years of related insurance/reinsurance working experience Or experience in big 4 firm preferably
• Knowledge of SFRS and Singapore Companies Tax
• Strong financial analytical and reporting skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Command of PC based application such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
• Experience in SUN and SICS would be an added advantage

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
