Job Description










The Logistics Assistant Manager is responsible for all service level performances of DFS\xe2\x80\x99s Singapore Distribution Center through competent leadership, setting clear and realistic expectations, and establishing a performance culture focused on continuous improvements. The role is also expected to have competency in problem-solving methodology to eliminate inefficiencies and errors through a sound understanding of root cause analysis concept, identifying failure areas and implementation of sustainable solutions. The Logistics Assistant Manager serves to represent DFS\xe2\x80\x99s operations priorities to the 3PL, and provide a voice for the 3PL within DFS Supply Chain. As part of DFS management, the Logistics Assistant Manager is expected to be the main point-of-contact between DFS and 3PL for all feedback, escalations, and complaints. He/She is expected to strike a fair balance between the demands of internal stakeholders and 3PL\xe2\x80\x99s capacities.


Operations Management

  • Responsible for operational cost management by ensuring cost per unit and sustainable cost reductions targets are met and exceeded
  • Aligns the warehouse\xe2\x80\x99s service commitment with the needs of the Sales and Merchandising teams; dynamically adjust operations priorities with 3PL based on changing business needs
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to improve handling and resolution of issues
  • Regularly reviews 3rd Party Logistics partner\xe2\x80\x99s warehouse and operational SOPs to ensure strict compliance and adherence to DFS standards and requirements
  • Works closely with our 3PL partner management team to build process flows, and maintain a high level of operational accuracy, eliminate errors and the improve in overall processes through simplification or improved alignment; Drive reduction in cycle time from port to available-for-sale.
  • Ensures quarterly, monthly and weekly performance reviews are in place for 3rd Party Logistics partner, supported by management and operational reporting.
  • Ensures 3rd Party Logistics partner delivers inventory accuracy and performs physical counts and cycle counts to ensure accuracy between physical inventory and WMS and DFS systems.
  • Ensures 3rd Party Logistics partner has in place a robust safety and security measures in the warehouse to eliminate/reduce risk to people, product, equipment, information, and facilities.



Controls
  • Creates and meets/exceeds budgets, forecasts, and other financial goals.
  • Prepares, present operating metrics, and any other necessary reports as requested by stakeholders.
  • Initiates and leads improvement plan topics whenever opportunities for improvements arises
  • Ensures 3rd Party Logistics partner practices comply with Customs regulations and other governmental laws and regulations affecting DFS\xe2\x80\x99s brand and reputation; Partnership with Regulatory & Compliance teams to understand Customs regulations, implement and adhere to compliance requirements
  • Ensures 3rd Party Logistics partner keeps in place a robust security and safety controls to reduce risk to people and the business. Controls include, but are not limited to, access in and out of the warehouse, CCTV coverage, alarm systems, screening of individuals, information security, computer security, supply-chain security, key security, locks and locking, security seals, employee background checks, theft prevention, fire prevention, etc. A documented set of procedures in an SOP must be maintained and be current.


Key Requirements



Other qualifications/ Core Competencies
  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Degree in a relevant academic area such as Engineering, Accounting, etc. may be substituted.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in 3PL operations within a warehouse environment is required. Successful candidate should have experience working with cross functional teams including but not limited to Sales, Planning, Finance, IT and Freight.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrates a collaborative attitude in managing multiple stakeholders, and cross functional teams
  • Ability to actively participate in complex, cross functional projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, executing on task and presenting results
  • Proficient in MS computer applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) is a must.

  • Approachable; good listening skills; open to ideas and suggestions
  • Uses data, logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions and minimizes the impact of emotion and personal interest in decision making.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills
  • Flexible, adjusts readily to new situations and changing priorities while effectively dealing with ambiguity, stress and uncertainty. Proactive, and works with a sense of urgency.
