About the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum

The Asian Civilisations Museum is the only museum in the region devoted to exploring the rich artistic heritage of Asia, especially the ancestral cultures of Singaporeans. Opened in 1997 and in its present building by the Singapore River since 2003, the museum traces its roots to the Raffles Museum, founded in the middle of 19th century. ACM focuses on the many historical and artistic connections between the cultures of Asia, and between Asia and the world.

Singapore\xe2\x80\x99s history as a port city that brought people together from all over the world is used as a means of examining the history of Asia. Objects on display tell stories of the trade and the exchange of ideas that were the result of international commerce, as well as the flow of religions and faith through Asia.

Asian Civilisation Museum manages the Peranakan Museum. The Peranakan Museum explores the art and culture of Peranakan communities in Southeast Asia and possesses one of the finest and most comprehensive collections of Peranakan objects. Responsibilities :

  • Ensure successful delivery of special exhibitions at ACM and TPM
  • Plan and manage special exhibitions and related projects in the aspects of scheduling, budgeting, design, legal matters, procurement paperwork and exhibition reports
  • Plan and arrange logistics and administration related to exhibitions, including shipping, crate fabrication, guests and couriers, conservation works, and insurance requirements
  • Ensure effective teamwork and communication with stakeholders, project partners, curators, project managers, lenders, contractors and experts
  • Drive progress for special exhibitions and projects, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner and within budget
  • Participate in other non-exhibition-related projects and/or non-departmental roles and projects as required
Requirements :
  • Preferably 3 years of relevant experience in the art and culture industry, especially in museums and galleries. Candidates with less than 3 years of relevant experience may be considered
  • Efficient, organised, highly motivated with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible, good problem solver with capacity for hard work
  • Good team leader and player, with effective management and communication skills
  • Meticulous, attentive to details with regards to procurement processes and paperwork
  • Interest in art, design, history; sensitivity to historical artefacts
