Job Description


Job Purpose

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. IPS is looking to hire an Assistant Manager (Project Management) for the Social Lab on a 2 year renewable contract.

The person will be required to liaise with Clients, Vendors and Free-lance interviewers to meet the required project\'s contractual obligations. This position will be primarily be in support for the various projects where Social Lab is contracted to do data. The individual needs to be self-motivated, well-organised and work well under a demanding or fast changing environment.


  • Manage projects and stakeholders (including various ministries in Singapore);
  • Monitor and ensure effective project and logistics management;
  • Prepare training materials and conduct training sessions;
  • Co-ordinate team members\' workload to manage performance;
  • Work with IT team to ensure accurate programming of the electronic questionnaires, user acceptance testing;
  • Work with QC team to cross-check and ensure data consistency and accuracy;
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems to control workflow
  • Manage project progress and liaise with administrative team to plan required resources to complete within timeframe and budget
Qualifications
  • Minimum Degree qualifications, preferably with experience managing projects commissioned by the public sector;
  • Prior experience in managing or handling projects is an advantage;
  • Prior experience in training of full-time, part-time and free-lance staff;
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to keep to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent leadership qualities and ability to motivate teams;
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines with attention to detail;
  • Familiarity with IT systems and computer software, e.g., SPSS, MSExcel
  • Strong computer literacy - working knowledge of MS Office applications is a must
  • Experience with data collection, questionnaire design and/or statistical software (e.g., SPSS DimensionNet, web programming languages, advanced Excel, VBA) is an advantage
