About the Role

This role reports to Assistant Vice President, International Operations with a dotted line reporting to Deputy Vice President, Group Workplace Health and Safety (WHS),

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist to set Group WHS systems and implement in the Business Unit; ensure business units\' adherence to policies and procedures for Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) ensuring consistent implementation across various markets and business units (International and SingPost Centre property)
  • Assist to liaise with local authorities for all matters, including but not limited to Workplace Safety and Health in Singapore and act as a technical advisory to those in other countries of international business unit.
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure the business complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to WSH and conduct safety inspections on a regular scheduled basis.
  • Ensure WHS is aligned to business strategies and operations for operational excellence, sales lead conversion and safety in supply chain alignment.
  • Understand WHS trends and best in class approach to safety ensuring Workplace Health and Safety and that of public stakeholders\' safety
  • Be the WHS technical expertise go-to person for the business for advice ranging from WHS regulations, standards such as bizSAFE/ ISO45001 and take the lead for such certification aspirations
  • Work with the various markets to plan for WHS related promotional campaigns and communications with relevant teams building a strong safety awareness
  • Prepare and interpret WHS related data, carry out incident root cause analysis, timely reporting and hazard elimination matters with the operations and the management.
  • Ensure proper documentation are in place satisfying internal procedural requirements as well as those required by laws and regulations and respective certifications.
Trends & Developments
  • Support businesses with competitive landscape scan on best practices / lessons learnt.
  • Stay updated on relevant WHS legislation and standards relevant that may potentially impact the operations in the various markets.
Centre of Excellence
  • The go-to technical expert for WHS related matters including in the areas pertaining to property matters, vendor/ contractor safety compliance, sales conversion and customers\' Request for Information/ proposals etc.
  • Ensure safety is embedded in supply chain service and product provision specifications
  • Work with Group WSH on implementing WSH systems, policies, procedures and any Global Minimum Standards
Reporting, Track Performance Against Metrics and Targets
  • Collect and analyze WHS data in accordance with the reporting standard the organization adopts
  • Track the ongoing performance in engagement with the businesses against the metrics to ensure achievement of targets
  • Track the performance dashboard to inform management decisions for improvement
  • Adopt technology for efficient reporting, task assignment for rectification, monitoring WHS performance to ensure operational efficiency
Site Safety Inspections
  • Work on a disciplined schedule where regular site safety inspections are carried at relevant workplaces
  • Where certain sites are located in other countries, an alternative inspection arrangement is to be sought if flights to the locations are not possible
Communications
  • Educate as well as raise WHS awareness through knowledge sharing and training across all levels in the various markets. You will also influence and lead through others to drive WHS performance as part of their day-to-day role
  • Work with Brand & Communications to consistently communicate WHS achievements internally and externally to build credible, positive brand reputation and position the company as a leader of WHS practices
What You Need To Have
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Workplace Health and Safety
  • Diploma/Degree qualified person in the field of engineering, occupational Safety Management with relevant WHS related certifications (e.g. Fire Safety Manager, Workplace Safety Officer, ECO)
  • Experience working in regional office or MNC is preferred
  • Experience in postal/ e-Commerce logistics /logistics sector will be an added advantage
  • Good working knowledge on the application of bizSAFE, ISO45001 preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in global safety standards and frameworks is preferred
