Job Description




A group-wide role with responsibility for Workplace Health & Safety. This role reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer

Key accountabilities:

  • Define the corporate strategy, governance, systems, policies and procedures for Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) ensuring consistent implementation across SingPost Group & its subsidiaries in 15 markets;
  • Ensure WSH is aligned to business strategies and operations for operational excellence, sales lead conversion and safety in supply chain alignment
  • Work with key Business Unit WHS leads in aligning Group approach to WHS and setting global minimum requirements; ensuring compliance with policy, principles, standards and local regulations .
  • Understand global trends and best in class approach to safety ensuring Workplace Health and Safety and that of public stakeholders\' safety
  • Use expertise and act as the organizational authority on developing, monitoring interpreting and understanding WHS and operations policies and procedures, whilst making sure they\'re aligned to organizational strategies and objectives.
  • Interact externally with relevant Safety Councils and authorities
  • Provide strong leadership to the dotted line team in order to develop and manage a high performance organization
  • Ensure full compliance with laws and regulations
  • Represent the organization in demonstrating WSH leadership position in the industry by participating in standards setting with organizations such as WSH Council Singapore, speaking engagements at leading WSH forums and conferences etc.
  • Be presenting key strategies and WSH progress against targets to the SingPost Board
Responsibilities:

Global Trends & Developments
  • Research and be kept updated on global trends that potentially impact the Company and its group of entities
  • Be on the pulse for global WHS developments that supports the Company WHS strategy/ approach
  • Support businesses with competitive landscape scan on best practices / lessons learnt
  • Stay updated on relevant WHS legislation and standards to ensure full compliance in the markets we operate in
Establish a consistent approach to WHS Management in the Group
  • Set the right structure for a WHS Management System aligned to ISO45001 and related reporting requirements of the Group (e.g. Global Reporting Initiative for Sustainability or any other as mandated by the Singapore Exchange)
  • Establish global minimum standards, policy, procedures, governance, monitoring and reporting requirements
Centre of Excellence
  • The go-to technical expert for WHS related matters including in the areas pertaining to sales conversion and customers\' Request for Information/ proposals etc.
  • Ensure safety is embedded in supply chain service and product provision specifications
Track performance against metrics and targets
  • Establish a Group-wide data basis of preparation setting boundaries to ensure consistent and accurate data collection (in accordance to the reporting standard the organisation adopts)
  • Build a suitable data collection and analysis platform that the Group can be using consistently
  • Track the ongoing performance in engagement with the businesses against the metrics to ensure achievement of targets
  • Establish performance dashboard to inform management decisions for improvement
Communications
  • Educate as well as raise WHS awareness through knowledge sharing and training across all levels within the organization. You will also influence and lead through others to drive WHS performance as part of their day to day role
  • Work with Brand & Communications to consistently communicate WHS achievements internally and externally to build credible, positive brand reputation and position the company as a leader of WHS practices
Reporting & Performance Tracking
  • Manage WHS reporting requirements of the Group
  • Be responsible in preparing and presenting Group performance and key WHS strategies and related initiatives to the Management Committee and Board/ Board Committees
  • Adopt technology for efficient reporting, task assignment for rectification, monitoring WSH performance to ensure operational efficiency
Education & Certifications:
  • Degree qualified person in the field of engineering, occupational Safety Management with at 10 - 15 years of leadership positions in the area of Workplace Health and Safety
Experience:
  • 12 - 15 years of leadership experience in the area of Workplace Health and Safety
  • Experience working in an MNC with matrix reporting is required
  • Experience in postal/ e-Commerce logistics /logistics sector will be an added advantage
List of preferred Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge on the application of GRI reporting standard
  • Knowledge and experience in global safety standards and frameworks
