What the role is:The Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC), an institution under the National Heritage Board (NHB), plays a leading role in heritage conservation in Singapore. It is also the repository and conservation facility for the management and preservation of Singapore\'s National Collection (NC).Artworks and artefacts are part of the NC, and NHB preserves, presents, and promotes the cultural heritage of Singapore for the purpose of education, nation-building and cultural understanding.In this role, you will be part of a driven team that is passionate about art and heritage preservation. You will also have the opportunity to gain and accumulate varied specialised knowledge and experience in digitisation, collections care and management.If you think this is your cup of tea, we want to hear from you!ResponsibilitiesThe AM/M (Collections & Digital) will oversee digitisation and preservation projects, including contributing to the care of time-based media collections, ensuring accurate conversion of physical records to digital formats, streamlining digitisation processes, and facilitating collaboration between HCC users and corporate divisions for projects like onboarding to a Digital Asset Management System.You will:

  • Collaborate closely with collections managers, conservators, vendors, museum and corporate colleagues on interdisciplinary projects such as long-term storage for time-based media to promote access to digital collections, and onboarding to a Digital Asset Management System.
  • Contribute actively to the HCC Time-Based Media workgroup\'s discussions on a preservation strategy and workflows for NHB\'s digital and analogue collections, to ensure sustainable and long-term care.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to prioritize NCs for digitisation based on strategic objectives and preservation needs, as well as digitisation of historical collections records for effective access and knowledge management.
  • Develop digitisation workflows and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Research and implement best practices in digitisation techniques and standards, including managing descriptive metadata for digitised assets for consistency.
  • Learn and enhance skills and stay current with emerging trends in digitisation and preservation.
Requirements
  • Background in History, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, Library Science, Archival Studies, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduates with interest or prior experience in the culture and heritage sector are welcome to apply.
  • Strong writing, project and change management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Knowledge of preservation principles and practices for cultural heritage materials is an asset.
  • Experience in managing digitisation projects in a cultural heritage institution or similar environment preferred.
