Assistant Safety Manager

The Assistant Safety Manager assists the Director of Security & Safety to plan and manage the operational activities of the Department and provide safety programmes involving associates of other departments, so as to educate and inculcate a sense of Security & Safety.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities and tasks of this position are as listed below, but not limited to these:

  • Report for duty as per schedule in roster and be in attendance for the daily 15 minutes pre and post shift briefing
  • Don essential company issued equipment such as Mobitalk, Bluetooth device, torchlight and pocket mask during duty
  • Be in-charge of the Hotel Security Control Room as well as for the day to day operations
  • Ensure all official Safety documents are handled accurately in accordance to SOP
  • Constantly conduct Safety Meetings with key management members for the purpose of Reporting on statistics and incidents
  • Drive to align the organization to improve safety performance with the implementation of strategizing to reduce risk
  • Staying up-to-date on compliance requirements and communicating with stakeholders for compliance
  • Updating company policies to be in line with the compliance and conduct regular
  • Audits, inspections, and training
  • Conduct multiple meetings to coordinate efforts between high-level executives, operations managers, and supervisors. These sessions often include the manager reporting to the group on safety performance statistics, results of incident investigations, and negotiating changes to policies and procedures to improve safety performance.
  • Go through the daily analysis report, Safety & Security documentation by the operational team, security and safety books as well as to review the deployment sheet to ensure all are in order
  • Collate and number (HIR) incident and accident reports, completes the daily overview report, conduct investigations, record statements, interview eyewitnesses and perform onsite investigation and involve the Authorities, if necessary
  • Ensure all Safety equipment and documentation are operational and in good working order
  • Conduct system check for Fire protection live-saving system (FPLS) during shift
  • Ensure all personnel are fully briefed on major events of the hotel and conduct regular SOP training and review
  • Prevent situations that could jeopardize the reputation of the hotel
  • Oversee critical and sensitive functions until completion and give command & control the operations during an emergency
  • Document all incidents and accidents occurred in the hotel in connection with crime, subversions, potential liabilities and insurance requirements
  • Supervises planning and deployment of Safety & Security personnel within the team and shift
  • Plan and deploy coverage for all access points as assigned to ensure no unauthorized entry / prohibited articles
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum GCE aEUR~OaEUR(TM) level
  • At least 5 years hotelaEUR(TM)s Safety experience in a 4/5 star hotel
  • Ex-Safety or Fire safety manager preferred with at least WSH (B) & FSM certifications. Completed BizSafe Level 2 certification
  • Experienced in Workplace Safety and Health program and certification
  • Experienced in Risk Management programs and Risk assessment documents
  • Previous administration of persons in lifesaving or property protection situations
  • Experienced in CPR, first aid, fire fighting and crowd control
  • Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) Certificate
  • Computer-literate
