The role will involve underwriting large complex risks and aiding with referrals of local business underwritten by our Retail Team. In terms of portfolio management the role will involve, amongst other duties, managing risk accumulations and tracking performance against budget to ensure we achieve our targets. Lastly, business development will need to be carried out both locally in Singapore and in the greater Asia region.Internally, you will need to develop good relationships with every member of the Asia Pacific Property underwriting team. Other key internal teams which you should become familiar with include Claims, Finance, IT, Operations and the Allied WorldWide team. Externally, you should be liaising with our brokers both direct and reinsurance as well as key clients and cedents.Job Duties:xc2xb7 Assist with the development and agreement of strategies for Singapore and Asia property portfolio, agreeing the risk appetite, underwriting philosophy and pricing strategy in order to achieve the agreed business goals and targetsxc2xb7 Assist with the management of the performance of Singapore branch property portfolio through compliance controls, accumulation monitoring, performance monitoring, cycle management and portfolio forecasting to ensure agreed targetsxc2xb7 Ensure long term development of the portfolio through the management of product development, based on portfolio performance, market intelligence, R&D insight, legal development and emerging risksxc2xb7 Actively contribute to the development of segment and local customer proposition and associated sales planning. Bring knowledge and insight of the market and its risks, proactively manage and identify opportunities to increase penetration of existing customers and or expand the business mixxc2xb7 Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to less qualified and/or experienced colleagues to address technical referrals and raise standards and expertise across the technical communityxc2xb7 Lead and or contribute to technical audits and peer review processes as requiredxc2xb7 Ensure the internal systems and processes are in place and working effectively to support the business needsSkills and Experience:xc2xb7 Significant experience in underwriting large and complex property risks in Singapore and wider Asia regionxc2xb7 Experience in designing and managing multinational programsxc2xb7 Strong leadership and people management skillsxc2xb7 Excellent business development skills and established rapport with local networkxc2xb7 Thorough technical understanding of clauses, policy wordings and pricing mechanismsxc2xb7 Thorough understanding of the broker network with good business planning skillsxc2xb7 Strong negotiation skills with a high level of customer and commercial awarenessxc2xb7 Excellent verbal and written communication skillsxc2xb7 Competent in Microsoft Office and relevant insurance platformsWorking at Allied WorldOur team of over 1,500 professionals has deep expertise in the industry.
