Fitch Ratings\' Insurance group is currently seeking an Associate Director or Director based out of our Hong Kong or Singapore office.

Fitch Ratings\' insurance group knows what it takes to deliver value, meaning and insightful ratings to market participants. With coverage across all areas of the insurance market including life, non-life and reinsurance, our experienced analysts apply an open and balanced approach to credit assessment. Leveraging industry data and well-tested credit metrics, our analytical process is supported by a careful mix of quantitative and qualitative factors. Our insurance team transforms data into actionable views that help investors evaluate risk.

The Asia Pacific Insurance group has analysts in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

  • Exposure to life/ non-life (re)insurers in APAC regions, with a focus on China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea
We\'ll Count on You To:
  • Demonstrate in-depth insurance sector knowledge, industry experience, IFRS17 insurance accounting and application of Fitch\'s rating criteria, especially in China/HK/Taiwan/Skorea
  • Participate in comprehensive meetings and discussions with senior management at rated insurers
  • Monitoring a portfolio of issuer ratings, including the preparation of rating committee documentation and discussing credit analyses in rating committees
  • Writing and publishing of comprehensive rating reports on individual issuers
  • Participation in and chairing of credit rating committees in both your allocated region and other countries/continents
  • Regular interaction with external contacts, investors and bankers and liaison with issuers\' senior management
  • Publication of sector-specific research and insightful commentary
  • Presenting and responding to external queries from investors, bankers and other fixed income market participants and the media together with more senior analysts
What You Need to Have:
  • A minimum of 8 years financial/credit analysis experience in Asia Life / Non-life and (re)insurer
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English, both verbal and written; Any other languages are advantageous.
  • Degree educated, ideally within Finance or Accounting / Economics
  • Able to cope with time pressure and deadlines, and being happy to travel to China, Taiwan, South Korea or other APAC countries for short periods when required
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously - the initiative, ability and organisational skills to take responsibility for a portfolio of credits
  • A questioning mind-set to identify the pertinent questions to assess an insurer\'s financial profile
  • Attention to detail, especially in data handling and interpretation
  • The capacity to work self-sufficiently while also having a \'collegiate\' approach
  • Ability to cope with time pressure and deadlines.
  • Proficient knowledge of standard business software

  • Team management experience
  • CPA/CFA qualifications are beneficial but not essential
  • Able to work independently in an international environment while also being a good team player
