Role Responsibilities

  • This is an opportunity for the candidate to get involved in shaping the critically important function of the bank, Trade Distribution (TD). The role is an important enabler as Trade Distribution function plays a strategically important role in achieving the Bank\'s balance sheet and revenue objectives while supporting the needs of our clients.
  • As one of the market leaders in Trade Distribution space, Standard Chartered is proactively working towards the next wave of transformational initiatives, embedding originate to distribute even more strongly at the very core of Trade Finance & Working Capital management. The initiatives span across several streams - building agile, highly automated, scalable infrastructure for growth to sustainability to a highly innovative product suite. This role offers unparalleled experience in managing the transformation across these initiatives, including implementing and commercialising several of the systems and infrastructure initiatives.
  • With the vision to deliver best-in-class, robust risk management and governance framework with effectively managed risk and controls are critical enablers. The candidate will be instrumental in implementing operational risk framework for Trade Distribution, including monitoring risk and controls, streamlining control processes and leading automation initiatives for effective management of risk.
Strategy
  • Programmes manage delivery of Trade Distribution strategic initiatives - including development of product and infrastructure solutions for evolving distribution structures, developing focussed client value propositions, return management initiatives, etc.
  • Build, commercialize innovative Trade Distribution capabilities and product solutions across regions.
  • Effectively manage risks within Trade Distribution processes. Implement applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations and ensure compliance across distribution processes.
Business
  • Manage the implementation of infrastructure initiatives to ensure on time, on budget, high-quality delivery. Co-ordinate execution and ensure alignment across internal and external stakeholders for the delivery of product and infrastructure solutions.
  • Drive the commercialisation of product capabilities, client value propositions and replication stories to drive the business strategy.
  • Manage the roll out of Product governance across countries including but not limited to risk participation, true sale, syndications, Trade underwriting guidelines, etc.
  • Own the risk and governance framework ensuring regular monitoring of risk and controls and implementation of assurance checks in Trade Distribution. Partner with Risk stakeholders, effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Maintain oversight on Trade Distribution Operations and Trade Distribution Middle Office for effective post-execution and investor service delivery. Manage the outsourcing governance and contingency requirements.

  • Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
  • Lead process redesign and automation initiatives to improve governance and compliance with credit, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure on the ground adoption through continuous training and awareness around risk and corresponding mitigating actions.
People and Talent
  • Collaborate effectively within team and across stakeholders from legal, compliance, OR, CRC, tax, product, CSDG and Trade Origination on ironing out any blockages in distribution processes and capabilities.
Risk Management
  • Identify and drive cross functional & governance related requirements including Ops Risk Framework, Tax, Conduct, Compliance requirements, OCIR, Outsourcing governance and associated activities.
Governance
  • Ensure effectiveness of controls through reviews with Risk stakeholders. Ensure the embedding of governance frameworks for Trade Risk participation execution.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrate and be responsible for an active awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group, Trade and Trade Distribution operate and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

The role offers a unique opportunity for the candidate to play an instrumental role in the transformation of Trade Distribution, thus building on a thorough knowledge of trade finance, with syndication & distribution exposure. The role allows the candidate independence and ownership of some of the critical enablers for Distribution, including product development and management of risk and governance. Interaction with a globally spread-out team, offering a truly global experience. It will help build product and process knowledge around trade finance and distribution.

  • Business - Market Knowledge: Exposure to deal execution aspects, investor service management and ownership of commercialisation and replication efforts in Trade Distribution.
