[What the role is]
The incumbent will plan, develop and select quality and relevant library collections and content, take the lead to conceptualise, develop and execute market initiatives and programmes in Malay language, across the public library network, so as to promote learning, reading and active usage of Mother Tongue language resources.

[What you will be working on]

Collection Development

• Source and select Print and Digital materials for library patrons of the network of public libraries.

• Review existing collection and identify collection gaps.

• Perform statistical and other analyses on Malay collection loan data.

• Conduct research to review reading and borrowing trends.

Content or Resource Development and Enhancement

• Develop new content (including articles, book recommendations, reviews, videos, resource kits, reading club packages and resources, etc) that promote learning, reading and active use of Malay language resources.

• Research, identify and propose new digital engagement opportunities.

• Review and enhance existing content to ensure that they continue to be relevant and effective in meeting their objectives.

Reading initiative and Programming

• Conceptualise, develop and execute reading programming in Malay language at various public libraries.

• Develop and maintain contacts with partners from the Malay community.

• Implement and track end-to-end process of programmes from planning to post-mortem, ensuing that the programmes achieve the agreed targets and outcomes.

• Review and work on enhancements to deliver services to target users.

Networking and partnership with community partners

• Identify and establish networks with community partners to promote the use of library services and collections.

• Plan and execute outreach activities and participate in collaborative outreach programmes.

• Review and maintain working relationships with partners and key stakeholders.

• Participate in networking and partnership with the Malay community partners and for Mother Tongue Language as a whole.

[What we are looking for]

• Good command of Malay language.

• Appreciation of Malay literary works and a good network with the Malay community is preferred.

• Skills in interpreting customer/client\xe2\x80\x99s information needs.

• Good command of English communication skills (writing and speaking).

• Required to perform shift work and work on weekends, when necessary.

• Strong team player, good networking skills.

• Meticulous, analytical, able to multi-task in a dynamic environment and manage changing needs.

Work location will be at the Marine Parade Public Library. As the library is currently closed for renovation, the current work location is at the Toa Payoh Public Library.

The incumbent would have to travel to various libraries to conduct programmes and for collection related activities, where required.

The successful candidate will be appointed on a 2-year contract in the first instance.
