Job Description

As Category Manager, you play an integral role in leading the strategic sourcing activities to maximize sustainable margin growth and are responsible for interfacing with customers and suppliers to specify and identify spares product category structures according to customers' needs. Key to this process will be growing margin of the category group or saving costs for customers. You engage and influence at all levels through your partnership with sales, supply chain and many more functions. You also collaborate with the regional strategic sourcing team to follow through on strategy and tactics.What will you deliver?Commodity Management Develop and execute sourcing strategies for spares category (Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Power Transmission, Valve/Fittings, Hardware, etc) with the regional Sourcing Leads Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (regional Sourcing teams, Sales, Operations, etc.) in executing these strategies. Participate and support Sourcing Leads in managing assigned commodities. Source and qualify new suppliers in line with commodity strategy. Drive improvements in quality, delivery and cost to meet Strategic Sourcing targets and initiatives. Keep abreast of design, product and market requirements from business units and in turn share market and suppliers' developments. Take on role of the product/technical subject matter expert Support implementation of new spares-related business (in terms of sourcing, commercial terms with suppliers, product information support, etc)Supplier Management. Devise and implement action plans to continuously improve Strategic Sourcing capabilities as well as support business development regionally. Conduct regular business reviews with strategic and critical suppliers involving relevant stakeholders. Set up framework for Sonepar SIS and preferred suppliers' engagement to support regional business development especially for spares.Continuous Improvements. Continually review supply base and develop new potential suppliers to support the business requirements. Facilitate regional engagement to continuously build pipelines and achieve year-on-year savings target. Identify strategic sourcing best practices and drive these best practices Work with internal teams, Key Account Manager/s (eg. Sales, procurement etc) to ensure continually improve the customer experience and to optimize our customer and supplier's management. Ensure world class customer service is achieved. Ensure compliance with Vallen's sourcing policies and procedures.Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related discipline Profound/Good knowledge in the assigned product group Good customer service skills Good analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication skills Good team player with the ability to work effectively under deadlines Experience in vendors/suppliers' management Ability to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills Ability to effectively work in multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines Understanding of financial concepts such as EBIT and working capital
