Job Description


Our client is a market leader within the Shipping industry. We are currently partnering them to look for a Chief Information Officer, APAC & GBS India. Reporting to the Chief Executive Office of APAC region and functionally to Group Chief Information Officer in Head Office, the role will be responsible for overall management of the IT applications and operations needs required to ensure the effective running of the business and agencies in Asia Pacific region and the other subsidiaries.



The role will also be the key IT partner for Global Business Services (GBS) which is the business department that oversees all shared service centers globally. The role will lead the automation and transformation initiatives for GBS while ensuring stable running of the systems used by GBS to meet their service level.

As a key member of the IT Management Team, the incumbent will be working closely with APAC General Executive Management (GEM) team, General Managers of all APAC agencies, Global Business Services (GBS) team in HO, the Heads of all shared service centers, and HO IT teams (Core IT, Digital, Security, Regional teams).

Primary areas of work include (but are not limited to) the following:


Program Management

  • Establishes technology requirements and develops strategies for developing solutions and acquiring software and hardware necessary to meet the business needs, while aligning to the global strategy, standards and policies set by Head Office (HO).
  • Implementation of an effective governance to communicate goals, projects, and timelines; define the ways to execute those goals; develop and implement the IT budget. Responsible for the PMO function and demand management process for the business.
  • Collaborates with management team and business leaders to identify ways IT can assist in achieving business and financial goals and delivers values to business with technology.
  • Identifies new information system developments and technologies; anticipates resulting organizational modifications.
  • Supports business in digital and transformation initiatives, evaluation of potential tools or solutions, lead in proof of concept or value proposition activities.
  • Drives the transformation and automation journey with GBS to achieve productivity gain and process standardization where feasible, using tools and solutions in a cost effective and secured manner.
  • Drive and deliver the continuous improvement initiatives agreed with GBS business stakeholders and ensure the solutions deliver the business values.
  • Lead the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Center of Excellence (CoE) to deliver RPA solutions for the Group.


Application Management and Infrastructure Operations
  • Organize and manage a team responsible of ensuring high availability and performance of applications.
  • Uphold quality of service for all IT deliveries and maintain system stability.
  • Define, prioritize, and deliver the demands of evolutions of applications in accordance to agreed timeline and budget.
  • Define the medium and long term strategy and objectives for the infrastructure, which support overall IT goals and the Company’s strategic plans.
  • Oversee the functions for improving system reliability, data interchange and system upgrades
  • Manage the utilization and monitoring of the bots deployed globally, ensuring the stable running of the bots and return of investment is achieved.


Organization
  • Design and manage the IT organization to support the long-term IT strategy, ensuring effectiveness and consistency of the design across the different locations.
  • Drive the close collaboration and synergy between IT teams in the Regional office and agency offices.
  • Manage the APAC Digital factory, ensuring the skill set of the team stays relevant with the latest technology and business needs.
  • Promote globalization of IT services in the region, keeping a close engagement with the relevant HO IT portfolio heads and business stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the global IT service lines for the Group.
  • Manage the IT team in India, which is an extension team of HO IT, ensuring the performance and execution of their roles that is aligned or exceed HO expectation.
  • Develop a strong RPA CoE that can deliver RPA solutions in accordance with the expected business values and within budget and timeline.
  • Manage and develop a team of highly skilled individuals.


Academic qualifications, experiences, and other requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computing/Information Systems
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in technology with increasing responsibility and growth
  • Proven ability to drive toward a goal and manage work streams with cross functional and global teams
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving skills and experience in project management
  • Experience in leading automation and transformation initiatives
  • Good attitude and resilience with ability to adapt to change
  • Experience in consulting, influencing and negotiation skills; ability to ensure strategic alignment with multiple parties
  • Good budget management and organizational skills
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills
  • Excellent business acumen; advanced financial skills
  • Ability to manage complex processes concurrently
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills to senior management
