Calculate and invoice demurrage and voyage-related claims incurred for each voyage, promptly with required documentation in accordance with the terms and conditions of the governing charter party
Negotiate effectively to pursue collections of outstanding demurrages and claims escalation
Liaise with Shipping Operators and/ or Master and/ or Agent for missing information or documentation and follow up proactively
Record demurrage and claims and ensure compliance with electronic filing process
Prepare weekly and monthly demurrage reports Track, highlight and provide feedback on unfavourable clauses to Freight Traders
Develop solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to maintain smooth collection of outstanding claims, including traveling to meet external stakeholders, if necessary
Collate relevant correspondences for Legal Counsel or P&I Club review on claims that need to be turned over for legal recovery
Evaluate validity of claims and take initiative to stay updated on new rulings, new clauses, how Charter party provisions are changing, etc. through seminars and relevant industry events
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the Tanker or Oil & Gas Trading industry.
Strong understanding of the various charter parties, commercial contracts, laytime and demurrage provisions and the terminology associated with the petroleum industry.
Strong understanding of all time-related and post-deal claims.
Strong analytical and communication skills Self-motivated, Positive minded, Resolution focused.
Good knowledge of Shipping Operations and/or Law.
Be able to communicate in both English and Mandarin to communicate with China counterparts.
