You want to use your gifts to contribute to a more just, more sustainable and more hopeful future. Or perhaps, you\xe2\x80\x99re fresh from the pool of soon-to-graduate students and while surfing through endless job descriptions, you are looking for something that truly stands out. A role beyond a job - something that empowers you to make meaning and create impact. Perhaps, like us, you see a new array of possibilities arise during this (pan)endemic, particularly in the area of building and empowering communities around us. If you are still reading this, let\xe2\x80\x99s take our resonance further. Skillseed is growing and we want to meet you.

ROLE

As our Community Builder in our Experiential Learning Programmes (ELP) Complement, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work closely with the team to: Manage and Facilitate our Experiential Learning Courses and Flagship Initiatives
  • Head and manage our initiative Resilience Trails. This is Skillseed\xe2\x80\x99s flagship initiative with AMKFSC Community Services where we work alongside friends with disabilities, single mothers and individuals from other under-resourced communities to co-create trails in our Guides\xe2\x80\x99 neighbourhoods to bring our participants along a journey of empowerment, empathy and endless possibilities.
    • Work closely with our Programme Coordinator to support, nurture and grow our community of Resilience Guides
    • Be instrumental in the scaling of the Resilience Trails across the nation in other neighbourhoods and communities, forming strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders, from government agencies to volunteer centres and non-profits
    • Oversee and manage grants and other funding related to the Trails
    • Labour alongside Management to market the Trails to a range of participants, from corporates to schools
    • Partner our Community Guides and partners to refresh, update and innovate around Trail content, routes and learning objectives
    • Conduct impact assessments and analyse feedback from participants, Guides and other stakeholders to improve the Trails and for reporting purposes, together with Together with our Programme Coordinator
  • Facilitate local workshops and learning journeys for a diverse range of participants, including secondary/tertiary students to adult learners
  • Market and manage our existing signature ABCD Walkshops in Singapore, in both in-person and virtual modalities. This will include end to end management of client-partner communications, course logistics, budget, administrative responsibilities and coordination with a variety of stakeholders, including external facilitators, through the sales and implementation life cycle.
Maintain and Build Relationships
  • Continuously improve our Community Partner Satisfaction survey and standards
  • Support our training team in maintaining our pool of trained facilitators
  • Represent Skillseed at conferences, seminars and forums
Achieve Operational Excellence
  • Oversee the regular refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for our Walkshops and Resilience Trails
  • As part of safety and risk management, you will also develop, update and run quarterly Safety and Risk training for all ELP facilitators
Conduct Outreach and Business Development (BD)
  • Be an integral part of Skillseed\xe2\x80\x99s business development team to co-create and implement BD strategies to reach out to new client or strategic partners (both locally and globally), specifically for our walkshops and Resilience Trails

Requirements

Consider the role if you have the following:
  • A degree in any field from accredited tertiary institutions; bonus (but not required) if in education, psychology, sustainable development or equivalent
  • Experience and/or interest in at least one or more of the following areas: service learning and facilitation, curriculum development, community development, social causes and youth development
  • An active involvement in community (whether personally or professionally)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
We welcome fresh graduates, or if you have at least 1 to 2 years of working experience. Finally, here are some key individual traits that we are sensitive towards:
  • Ideally, you are independent, driven and a self-starter. You naturally conceptualize community initiatives, reach out to partners and seek out innovative ways to connect and support our partners (whether clients or community partners) without needing to be prompted or reminded to do so.
  • Ideally, you will be a \xe2\x80\x9cT\xe2\x80\x9d in thought and action. In thought, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be able to see broad and wide, whilst zooming in as needed. In practice, you will have expertise in one area but have the flexibility to collaborate and innovate across disciplines. But at the very minimum, meticulousness and attention to detail would be key for your portfolio, especially in project management and facilitating learning.
  • You are equally comfortable facilitating a small group of less than 5 or sharing our community frameworks to a group of 30 participants independently
  • In our line of work, it\xe2\x80\x99s important that we are relational. This is one universal trait that will ensure longevity in Skillseed.
  • People-orientedness - You enjoy and naturally host or join community or stakeholder gatherings (beyond your own friends) without being asked to; you are also a natural connector who enjoys building relationships across different networks, backgrounds and cultures
  • A growth-oriented mindset. It sounds like a platitude, but it\xe2\x80\x99s crucial in our space - you are always seeking to improve yourself and it reflects in your work quality

PERKS

Work at your favourite roasters, by the beach, at Ya Kun, or anywhere you like every Tuesday and Thursday! In fact, our remote working Thursdays were mandatory and prepared us for COVID-19. We like to think of it as some form of national service, in reducing train congestion. (Also, you will only have to think of what to wear to work three times a week!) Come in an hour earlier or later, according to your needs. Daily, because of our flexi-work schemes that everyone is entitled to- that means arriving to work anytime from 8am-10am. We can\xe2\x80\x99t guarantee seats on the train, however. Appear at the office in your weekday best- if it\xe2\x80\x99s a casual pair of shorts and a t-shirt, we don\xe2\x80\x99t mind at all! We won\xe2\x80\x99t bat an eyelid even if you show up in the same outfit all the time (unless we begin to smell...smells). We enjoy having fun together too - once every quarter, we will organise fun activities that the team gets to do together, outside of the office. We even get to vote for the team bonding activities we want to do, from Escape Rooms to Board Games and even Ninja Warrior courses!

Place. We\xe2\x80\x99re a five-mins walk from Bugis or Bras Basah MRT! No matter your dietary needs, there\xe2\x80\x99s always affordable and authentic hawker fare around us in the heart of Bugis area, not to forget, Bubble Tea, anytime!
Our People are what truly matters. We have Readers, Repairers, Rescue Divers, Fermenters, Crafters, and Really charismatic people*. Extraverts and Introverts. We all come with different experiences and backgrounds, but what unites us is the desire to do deeply meaningful work that helps us grow together, not kill us.
  • Comes with quite a bit of drama too, like it or not.

Professionally
, you will also get to meet and engage a wide range of stakeholders (our partners, whom we cherish deeply), from ground up communities, non-profits, fellow social enterprises to schools, government and corporate partners, as Skillseed has been very privileged to have collaborations across the People, Public and Private sectors.
