Job Description


The ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic development. Applications are invited for:

Senior Fellow/Coordinator, Thailand Studies Programmes (2 -Year Contract)

Management Responsibilities

The Coordinator\xe2\x80\x99s primary role is to ensure that Thailand Studies Programme (TSP) attracts high quality Visiting fellows and produces timely and relevant research on Thailand. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the budget and manpower planning for the TSP
  • Develop and update rolling 3-year research workplan
  • Manage a group of researchers, including the completion of their deliverables
Research Responsibilities

The Coordinator will also conduct research on Thailand, covering either political, socio-economic development, or relations with the major powers, and their roles in ASEAN. Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct research and provide analysis in consultation with Director (Research)
  • Produce policy-relevant articles, including ISEAS publications such as Fulcrum and Perspective
  • Present research findings at public and private platforms such as seminars/webinars, lectures, closed-door briefings, among others
  • Manage or assist in ISEAS events such as curating speakers and moderating
  • Contribute to ISEAS collective research efforts (media engagements; briefings to overseas visitors and delegations; and reports)
  • General editorial work and other tasks and duties related to ISEAS
Requirements
  • PhD in International Relations, Political Science, Government or Public Policy, Southeast Asian Studies, Area Studies, Sociology, Anthropology or related disciplines, with at least 10 years of experience in a research centre, think tank, or academic institution
  • Non-PhD applicants with 10 years of relevant experience in government, the private sector, and think tanks may apply
  • Strong interdisciplinary work with good track record in research and publications
  • Strong communication and writing skills in English. Language proficiency in Thai would be an advantage
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills
