Job Description


Credit Portfolio Trading (CPT) risk manages the retained credit risk on CIB\'s derivative exposures (CVA) as well as active management of funding risks in the derivative book (FVA). CPT Asia is part of the global team with close links to the CPT teams based in London and New York. The successful candidate will report to the head of CPT in Asia.
This is primarily a trading role, but one that requires collaboration across multiple groups - Sales, Structuring, Trading, Risk, Finance and Technology, in order to achieve the best results. The role offers substantial learning and development opportunities, as all Asian markets and asset classes are covered by the desk. Also, many different client types and underlying products give a great variety of risks to manage and people to work with.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Active management of CVA & FVA related risk using available hedge instruments, primarily:
    • IRS, Bond futures, XCY basis, FX (spot, forwards, NDF), Equity (futures, TRS and options), Credit Default Swaps (single names and Index), Commodity (Softs, Energy, Metals futures)
  • Assess stress tests and validity of risk metrics of the portfolio and develop hedge strategies
  • Communication to senior management on market events, portfolio changes and P&L
  • Daily production of the Asia P&L flash
  • Daily review and sign-off of all the CPT Asia Risk and P&L reports
  • Monthly review and sign-off for VCG reserves in the region
  • Ensure the book is correctly marked, e.g. maintaining credit marks for illiquid risk (using grids or bonds), and ensuring illiquid market inputs and opaque parameter inputs are appropriately maintained
  • Maintain a disciplined control environment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of trade bookings and risk delivery. Identification and reduction of operational risk issues and chair the bi-weekly control forum
  • Work with Product Control/Middle Office/Technology on ongoing system and process improvements
  • Involvement in regional and global projects relating to credit and funding
  • The individual will be expected to keep up to date with current and future Regulatory changes with a view to identifying future business opportunities
  • Obtain and maintain necessary local regulatory approvals and on-going compliance
  • Input into pricing XVA on new transactions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience on a cross asset (or XVA) trading desk
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in Finance/Economics, Mathematics or a related field
  • Track record of making sound risk management decisions
  • Proven ability to navigate a large organisation and network across different businesses
  • Effective communication & organization skills
  • Able to demonstrate drive and a track record of results delivery

Preferred Qualifications, capabilities and skills:
  • Experience of having managed client relationships directly will be an added advantage
