Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore\'s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.

Mandai Wildlife Group advocates for biodiversity, contributes leading wildlife research, develops innovative solutions to promote living sustainably, and collaborates with conservation partners in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The Group provides funding and in-kind support to Mandai Nature for conservation work across Southeast Asia.

Mandai Global, an entity that is part of the Group, will establish and operate new lines of business anchored in creating positive outcomes for nature and wildlife.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Create a behavioural husbandry culture amongst Animal Care sections:

\xc2\xb7 Ensure the concept of behavioural husbandry and the importance of behavioural research are well understood by all animal care staff.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate training and mentoring in behavioural husbandry to animal care staff.

2. Behavioural Management Framework (BMF):

\xc2\xb7 Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the MWG BMF.

\xc2\xb7 Assist Animal Care sections in targeted behavioural management plans to correct specific behavioural problems by chairing the working group meetings, as well as coaching and mentoring BMF liaisons.

\xc2\xb7 Compile yearly behavioural management report.

\xc2\xb7 Plan and manage the enrichment and animal care research budget on a yearly basis.

3. Behavioural Research:

\xc2\xb7 Work closely with the Research Panel to coordinate all data gathering derived from the BMF and ensure proper data analysis is conducted to assess effectiveness and relevance.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate the development of any possible publications or external communications derived from the BMF.

\xc2\xb7 Assess, guide, and supervise Animal Behavioural Research projects within the Animal Care department.

4. Other relevant duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

\xc2\xb7 Master\'s degree in Animal Behavioural Sciences or related fields. A Doctorate Degree (PhD) would be highly desirable.

\xc2\xb7 At least 8 years of work experience in a zoological setting.

\xc2\xb7 Strong research capability and supervisory / mentorship qualities.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated interest and expertise in Zoology, Ethology, Animal Welfare and Behavioural Husbandry.

\xc2\xb7 Strong understanding of the one plan approach to saving species from extinction and the one health concept.

\xc2\xb7 Leadership abilities and a proven ability to manage and motivate staff.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills in speaking and writing.

\xc2\xb7 Experience in facilitating workshops and/or brainstorming sessions would be highly desirable.
