Deputy Director (DD), Component Service Centre (CSC)




Job Purpose


DD CSC is to assist Director CSC in the overall management and strategic development of the Component Service Centre. He will oversee the maintenance functions of the Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical and Electronics component workshops, as well as the Depot Equipment workshop, in SMRT Trains. These workshops are located in the various depots of SMRT.
He will have to collaborate with key stakeholders in LTA, SMRT and the industry to sustain and expand CSC’s maintenance capabilities and capacities to generate support the operations of all SMRT Business Units. This is to be achieved through meticulous planning and executing a rigorous maintenance regime with quality and timeliness. He is also to lead the team in diagnostics, troubleshooting and reliability engineering to strengthen preventive and corrective maintenance regimes. This is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable public transport service.



Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management and strategic development of the Component Service Centre.
  • Oversee the quality and timeliness of the repair and maintenance of all components.
  • Implement changes to maintenance concepts that will decrease defect rates and increase trains’ availability and reliability
  • Track defect trending and recommend measures that lead to strengthening of the preventive and corrective maintenance functions
  • Develop new capabilities and induct new work streams into the component service centre that present a positive ROI.
  • Ensure safety and efficiency in the operations at CSC.
  • Take care of the welfare of the staff. Play a key role in nurturing and developing them.


Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related fields;
  • At least 8 to 10 yrs of experience in maintenance and engineering roles. Railway environment is an advantage
  • Knowledge of other railway aspects, i.e. signal & comms, permanent way, and operations is an advantage
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytic and decision making abilities
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and preferably with hands-on experience to guide and nurture a multi-disciplinary staff to work as a team
  • Strong team player with effective written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to direct and motivate a multi-disciplinary staff to work as a team
