Key Responsibilities


Global P&L Analysis and Reviews

  • Assist internal clients (e.g. other departments) with reports, research and other activities.
  • Identify items or discussion or resolution.
  • Respond to audit and regulator queries on a timely basis.



Governance and Quality Assurance
  • Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements.
  • Document application of policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Draft standards to improve quality as well as active contribution in improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implementation of global policies and procedures.
  • Maintain oversight of the data structure of source and general ledger systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial information.



Manage Relationship with 3rd Parties (Auditors, Business Units, Public Authorities, Tax Authorities, etc.)
  • Support the building of trust with external stakeholders including auditors and regulators.



Project Work
  • Implementation of IFRS17 with respect to IFRS ledger and local statutory reporting.
  • Implementation of new systems and processes impacting the flow of financial information.



Reporting and Closing
  • Coordinate month-end closing activities to ensure insurance-related journal entries postings (e.g. IBNR, UPR) and account reconciliations are completed on a periodic basis.
  • Coordination, transfer and reconciliation of data from interfaces of front-end systems.
  • Ensure that all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, MAS General Insurance reporting including RBC2, statutory reporting) are accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that the balance sheet has reconciliations for all positions.
  • Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group.
  • Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities, including posting of accruals, deferred

acquisition expenses and other accounting transactions.
  • Timely execution and fulfillment of internal and external reporting requirements with minimal errors.



Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


Required Education:
  • Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or qualified by experience in related discipline.
  • For UK / US: Recognized professional qualification related to Accounting (e.g. CPA, etc.).



Required Experience:
  • Professional experience in Asset Management, Property & Casualty Insurance, and / or Reinsurance.
  • Proven understanding of standard accounting (GAAP & IFRS) for insurance and reinsurance.
  • Project and team work in a dynamic and international environment.



General Skills:
  • Analytical Thinking and Numeracy: Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing).
  • Problem Solving Ability: Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract / ambiguous and follow through on their remediation.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage projects (milestone and task planning, managing resources, project controlling, monitoring, and reporting, moderation techniques) and to develop solutions while considering complex stakeholder structures and requirements.
  • Languages: English & Local Language.



Technical Skills:
  • Ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations) including understanding of data flows.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills to effectively analyze data and convey messages in a winning fashion.
  • Legal and Regulatory Framework: Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS / IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies) with regards to reporting, compliance and declaration.
  • Understanding insurance financial statements and their performance measurement including Drivers.
