Overview of the job

P&G is looking for a Design Delivery Specialist (Print Production Expert) to support artwork capability building through the development, documentation and deployment of Global artwork work system standards – work process and IT systems. Provides leadership for governance and innovation of the artwork work system. Supports mastery development of artwork resources by providing training and training material and support for artwork assessments. Plays a role in the security model and issue escalation process relative to artwork systems. In addition to the above, this specialist role is to build capability of Design Delivery team, leveraging printing industry knowledge and experience to enable delivery of Design to Print at a higher rate of right the first time, at higher speed and with meaningful savings versus today!

Your team

This role reports to a Director within the F&HC Product Supply & Innovation team.

How success looks like

  • Deliver POA (pieces of art) annually to enable packaging for new product launches and product upgrades in support of the growth plan of the business.
  • Deliver functional performance in line with the growth plan of a business. Enable year-on-year structural cost savings relating to design delivery, contributing to business profit targets
  • Improve the lead-time/rate of delivery of POAs (measured in days) and packaging to market at an improvement rate.
  • Train the broader Design Delivery & Marketing organisation on printing industry methods and best practices to raise the level of understanding of what is technically feasible and thereby increase the rate of requested Design Intent in line with what can be achieved.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Advise creative designers and marketing organisation on the extent to which packaging design ideas can be technically realised in packaging production and propose/agree upon changes to balance the realisation of the creative vision with feasible mass production.
  • Liaise with artwork/design agencies and printed packaging manufacturers to execute these creative designs into a printable solution that can be mass produced
  • Propose solutions and resolve issues that may arise by bridging between the design & marketing team and packaging manufacturer
  • Develop solutions that will increase the rate at which designs are translated into mass-produced packaging “right the first time” and thereby reduce re-work loops and incremental costs
  • Propose structural cost saving ideas that will enable realisation of packaging creative vision and functional performance at a lower cost versus current, at a savings rate
  • Train the organisation to improve understanding of printing technologies and methods, such that the overall executional excellence and success rate of the organisation in delivering high quality printed packaging solutions from design to market is increased

Qualifications

  • Degree in Design-related field with minimum of 2 years Design Production & Print experience (Design Firm, Printer, Production House preferred)
  • Deep understanding of pre-press and printing industry standards, print production, print processes and press capabilities, inks, materials/substrates, specialty inks/finishes, proofing, and pint trials. Experience with color theory and color management. Understanding of spectral color data & digital proofing. Munsell Test score of ‘Average Discrimination’ minimum, ‘Superior Discrimination’ preferred.
  • In depth understanding of the E2E packaging process from design development through production, supply chain capabilities fit for use considerations and requirements, and how production/execution engages throughout process to enable print feasibility and design intent delivery.
  • Solid understanding of design, the design creative process, brand equity, design assets, brand identity systems, production guidelines, and the importance of visual consistency – in design intent & print quality.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership and strong collaboration skills with multifunctional teams and outside suppliers, and be comfortable engaging with all management levels.
  • Strong business communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong project and time management skills, experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze and assess current state and recommend systemic improvements. Proactively identify issues, implications, and provide potential solutions.
