This is a key role which will be responsible for delivering crucial elements of the Open Account Trade Finance growth strategy, within which revenue is targeted to grow by 2.5x by 2027.
Globally, Digital Invoice Finance is the single largest product within our Open Account Trade proposition, both at an asset and revenue level, and has seen steady growth in recent years.
The product is now on a transformational journey with a laser focus on simplification of the client experience, a target to increase digital initiation by 2x and significant simplification of end-to-end product governance.
Key responsibilities
Ownership of the Invoice Finance digitisation agenda including opportunity identification, scoping, execution, and implementation, in partnership with key functions including Digital Channels (DCDA) and Trade Product Development.
Proactive commercialisation support to regional teams to enable successful and timely execution of scaled transactions.
Product governance for Digital Invoice Finance to ensure that the proposition is correctly designed, delivers optimal client benefit while aligning to all relevant risk and control standards.
This role will also partner closely with the Global Head of Invoice and Distributor Finance to research, design, secure approval for, communicate and execute the Digital invoice Finance global product growth strategy.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to establish and grow effective working relationships with key leaders across the Standard Chartered Bank global trade and working capital leadership team, risk functional owners, Credit, Trade Risk Unit, Sales, Structured Solutions and Development, Implementation and Digital Channels (DCDA). Furthermore, to drive effective commercialisation of product initiatives, the role will require highly effective relationships across the regional trade product teams and their functional partners.
Critical capabilities which will underpin success in this role include:
Ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives to successful, client-oriented outcomes within defined timescales and budgets. Such initiatives are often delivered within geographically dispersed and culturally diverse project teams.
Experience in delivering digital transformation initiatives within trade finance, coupled with a broad appreciation of the broader digitisation landscape.
Strong appreciation of external market including product innovations, competitive landscape, evolving client needs and political, economic, social and technological factors which could impact the performance of the product.
Firm and demonstrable grasp of risk management and how risks can be mitigated and controlled in relation to the Digital Invoice Finance product. This awareness should span key disciplines including credit, fraud, compliance, operational, legal and market risk.
Engaging, enthusiastic and concise communications style both in written and verbal forms.
Critical mindset and excellent attention to detail.
Financials
Play a key role in driving the Digital Invoice Finance product strategy to ultimately deliver 2 x revenue growth by 2027. Monitor product performance against budgeted revenue & forecast and proactively engage stakeholders in devising & executing remedial action for under-performing sub-products & geographies.
Commercialisation & Branding
Commercialisation of capabilities across markets and enable/support the frontline to spot opportunities and faster closure of deals. Manage concentration risks, work on product Campaigns, effective communications, internal & External awareness of product capabilities, Industry/client value propositions, product collaterals (internal/external)
Governance & Risk Management
Enable the development of a robust portfolio with strong risk and governance standards by working closely with the RFOs and Trade Risk Unit.
Product life cycle management & Innovation: Understand clients\' / industry business issues / pain points and convert them to opportunities by creating solutions. Ensure product remains fit-for-purpose, fit-for-growth and fit-for-sale and develop market and client feedback loop.
Industry, Client & Competition: Stay connected with clients, industry bodies and peers in the industry to maintain insights on changing landscape, competitive environment, technological evolvement, best industry practices, key product trends and most importantly be able to respond as leaders to the consequent opportunities or threats identified
Our Ideal Candidate
10+ years of experience in banking / financial services and, ideally, within trade finance.
Invoice finance experience is ideal while experience of LCs, guarantees, receivables finance and supply chain finance is also highly valued.
Demonstrable experience of leading trade finance digital transformation initiatives.
Ability to drive complex, cross-functional initiatives to successful outcomes via geographically dispersed and culturally diverse project teams.
Strong grasp of the principal risk types which are relevant to trade finance and how such risks can be effectively mitigated and controlled.
Engaging, enthusiastic and concise communication style both in written and verbal forms.
Ability to build effective, progressive relationships with key senior stakeholders.
Demonstrable appreciation of external market trends in trade finance, including product innovations, competitive landscape and evolving client needs.

Capital and Return: RWA, RoRWA and Standard Pricing alignment
Active, demonstrable Ownership & execution of e2e product life cycle activities through Product Annual Assessment processes, at minimum.
Creation of Regional Feedback loop representing industry / client / regulatory and competitor insight to global centres of excellence within TB, GTO.
Competitiveness and external capabilities benchmarking & communication of same to global teams
Communication, training & pipeline building with Sales on global value-add propositions.
RFP and pre-RFP support in solutioning and SME support and client engagement - not "holding the pen"
Create industry value propositions, with quantifiable, differentiated benefits and build pipeline and focus
Risk (Operational, Credit, Regulatory, FCC and Conduct) - ensuring trade product in Europe meets the highest standard from a risk and conduct-based perspective
Ensure compliance with Product Programmes, CAs and front to back alignment with Functions to deliver compliance in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
