Job Description


We are seeking a Director, Business Development, Asia who will be responsible for out-licensing and deal-sourcing for the antibody discovery and ion channel screening platforms. This position is dedicated to ensuring OmniAb expands its partnering and collaboration efforts throughout Asia and neighboring regions, with a key focus on Singapore, China, Japan, Korea and Australia. The primary objective of this role will be to grow our presence in key biotech clusters to gain access to industry leaders and enhance our reputation. The role will entail scouting for platform collaboration opportunities, negotiating deals and working cross-functionally with our sciences, legal, strategy and finance teams.

This is a remote position based out of Singapore and will require up to 25% domestic and international travel. This role reports to the Vice President, Business Development and Strategy.

Responsibilities:

Identify potential partners through independent, company-specific research and industry landscape.

Develop and implement partnering strategies.

Identify and develop new strategic collaboration opportunities to achieve scientific and corporate objectives.

Establish rapport with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop depth of knowledge in the OmniAb platform to apply in business development setting.

Establish rapport with potential partners and deliver a tailored, persistent approach to achieving licensing agreements.

Evaluate alliance and partnership trends and provide analysis and recommendations to management.

Complete negotiations and transactions.

Stay up to date with the latest science and literature to be able to engage with our scientific teams.

Attend industry partnering meetings/scientific conferences to source leads and stay on top of industry trends.

Assist R&D team in crafting messaging and related materials for partnering presentations.

Coordinate CDAs, term sheets, license agreements and other licensing transaction documents to ensure all necessary internal stakeholders provide input.

Become potential partners\xe2\x80\x99 point of contact through all aspects of the partnering process.

Maintain database to track partnering activities and provide regular status updates.

Contribute to other strategic initiatives or duties as required.

Requirements:

PhD or MS in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related field.

  • Alternatively, MBA combined with BS in a related field.
8-10 years of full-time experience, including 5-7 years of client-facing business development experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries.

Proficiency in English is required and proficiency in Chinese, Korean and Japanese is preferred.

Ability to travel up to 25%, including both domestic and international travel.

Working knowledge of the structure and processes of lab-based scientific collaboration businesses.

Strong business presentation and communication skills, with the humble and confident approach needed to interact with stakeholders that have a wide range of roles, experience levels and differing areas of expertise.

Ability to negotiate, assess and determine critical issues in executing deals.

Functional expertise in collaborations, business development and project management.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple relationships simultaneously.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Experience with antibody-based discovery technologies is preferred.

Strong team player with experience working in a cross-functional matrix environment.
