Telenor Procurement Company (TPC), established in 2017 and headquartered in Singapore, operates as a subsidiary of the Telenor Group. We deliver Global Category Management as a service to the Telenor Business Units, taking full responsibility for the end-to-end Sourcing process and performance of global spend categories. Functioning as one Global Procurement team across all Telenor markets, we enable Telenor's strategic ambitions by becoming a centre of expertise in the pursuit of efficient operations. About the Role

As Director - Head of Category, OEM, you will lead a global team of Key Account, Category managers and subject matter experts reporting to the Vice President and Group Head of Devices. You will work closely with both Telenor corporate functions across business units and suppliers. As Director of the category you will own the OEM category strategy and execution being responsible to co-develop with Telenor BUs the supplier and commercial relationship with OEMs to facilitate Telenor Go-To Market strategy and plans to optimize financial and commercial performance across the Nordics and Asia.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and guide a global multicultural team of key account and category managers in the development and execution of the OEM Procurement and Supply Chain Management strategy for Devices to facilitate Telenor's Go-To-Market strategy and plans towards goals and targets.
  • Establish and coordinate cross-functional global category teams with Telenor BUs, partners and customer to secure global performance outcomes for the category in all Telenor markets.
  • Own the development and implementation of the OEM category and supplier strategy address business plans while considering latest market and industry trends in cooperation with stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Translate strategy developed into objectives and priorities for the category within Telenor BUs.
  • Develop portfolio of Procurement and Supply Chain Services (PaaS) including the plan to engage and deliver to third party customers.
  • Responsible for the development of category strategies across regions, the execution of these strategies, including day-to-day interaction with internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure a successful and optimal commercial partnership.
  • Identify and realize commercial initiatives for business growth and scale that deliver value for TPC and Telenor Business Units.
  • Collaborates and co-create with peers in other Telenor business units and Group Functions to maximise value realization benefits from Telenor's global scale.
  • Coordinate activities within the scope of Global Procurement and Supply Chain Operations across Telenor Business Units.
  • Lead category specific activities, including but not limited to: monitor and anticipate key market trends, spend analysis, vendor management, benchmarking, negotiations, contracting, product lifecycle management, building business case development.
  • Govern global demand and proactively follow up on financial and commercial performance across markets and suppliers.
  • Lead and facilitate the development of strategic partnerships and supplier relationship with targeted OEMs and facilitate alignment across Telenor's stakeholders.
  • Champion for strategic vendor management, monitoring of supplier risk and managing vendor performance.
  • Organise and lead key contract and vendor negotiation engagements and monitor the contractual value realization and performance of existing agreements.
  • Assess, monitor and prevent as much as possible business risks related to the category and the role itself, including executive updates while leading mitigation plans.

Profile

The successful candidate has an extensive experience and understanding of the telecom industry combined with a deep understanding of the device market in particular. As the category spend and suppliers are located across all of our markets, you would need to have excellent communication skills. You would on a daily basis need to interact across organizational and cultural boundaries and doing so in a convincing and credible manner.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • A university degree and broad experience in the telecommunications industry
  • More than 10 years in a team leadership position/ senior procurement / contract management / vendor / negotiations / supply chain management role or as functional expert in the category
  • Deep understanding of the device vendor market, with hands on experience preferably from the operator or vendor side
  • Application of procurement best practices and supplier negotiation at executive level
