Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Director of Banquet Operations is responsible for the overall management of hotel banquet operations. He/she will exercise complete oversight and management over the day-to-day banquet operations, including responsibility for all banquet functions and coffee breaks, developing guest/client relationships with respect to their functions and excellent customer service, managing the daily set-up and break-down assignments, and training colleagues on presentation and service standards, as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • To plan and guide the operations, to ensure that events are staffed appropriately, and guest satisfaction is monitored and where appropriate, rectified throughout the guest experience
  • Ensure that communication takes place and that daily briefings are conducted, and logbooks are being kept up to date to ensure that all team members are informed of the need-to-know information
  • To ensure that the Banquet operational budget is in line and cost are controlled to maximize profitability
  • To ensure guest needs and guest expectations are met by providing an efficient and professional service
  • Handles guest\xe2\x80\x99s complaints politely, promptly, and professionally
  • Communicate effectively with each department and coordinate with other departments
  • Ensure all furniture, lighting and other function room features are in full and clean working condition
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness, maintenance, and adequate provisions of operation equipment
  • To collaborate with the culinary team to ensure a consistently good standard of food quality, efficient profitability, and creative presentation
  • Oversee time and proper set up of all functions and meetings
  • Ensure that a monthly training plan is established, maintained, and conducted for service standards, customer service, and quality presentation
  • Develop colleagues through coaching, mentoring and through constant formal interactions at specific yet periodic intervals.
Key Requirements
  • Diploma in any discipline
  • At least two (2) years of experience as Director of Banquet Operations or equivalent role in an international luxury hotel chain with expansive event space/banqueting facilities and outdoor catering operations
  • Excellent communication, people, and customer service skills
  • Strong leadership, able to collaborate well with all stakeholders
  • Good financial acumen, able to understand financial statements
