THE OPPORTUNITY The Director of Communications for Asia Pacific will work with the Asia Pacific Communications Team and key therapeutic area leads to develop and implement a range of communications activities to support our business priorities and key therapeutic areas including - but not limited to - Oncology, General Medicines, and Pipeline. Carrying out this role requires ongoing interaction with the wider Corporate Affairs team in Asia Pacific and a range of other colleagues responsible for the delivery of our business priorities in the region. Reporting to the Regional Communications Lead, Asia Pacific, the role is also responsible for providing support and guidance to the 12 markets within the Asia Pacific region. This position must be based in the region - preferably in Singapore - and is required to travel within the Asia Pacific region, the US, and other markets as needed. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Identify, shape, develop and implement global strategies to positively impact our objectives within oncology and general medicines in the region. Support the business with communications strategies and plans that help shape the environment and encourage stronger adoption of innovative medicines. Support efforts to raise the company profile with media across the region, including international media outlets based within Asia Pacific. Protect and enhance the company's reputation throughout the Asia Pacific region. Drive use of social media to generate company awareness and advance business, policy and reputational objectives. Proactively monitor and manage issues in the media across the region and lead issues management preparedness activities. Build strategic relationships with key influencers and other decision makers who impact access to innovative medicines in the region: media, thought leaders, key HCPs, and others. Train, upskill and support our in-market communications teams. Facilitate information exchange relevant to communications initiatives between regions, markets, and key functions (e.g. Corporate Responsibility, Philanthropy, Regulatory, Legal, Market Access, Policy, Franchises, etc.). WHAT YOU MUST HAVE: We are seeking a collaborative, innovative, and adaptable leader who is capable of getting things done, able to influence peers and leaders, and accustomed to working in a dynamic region and within a complex matrix structure. To be successful in this role, you will also have: Minimum 10 years of experience in addressing strategic communications issues, ideally related to pharmaceuticals or a related area of healthcare. Experience of living and working within the Asia Pacific region is required, ideally in more than one Asian market. Experience with and expert knowledge of media communications, internal communications, and social media. Strong knowledge of healthcare, including understanding the roles and influence of various stakeholders, with established relationships within the Asia Pacific media landscape. Demonstrated ability to identify strategic priorities, bring together different internal stakeholders, and move an agenda forward to resolution and action. Proven track record of proactive issues management and crisis preparedness. Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively in a highly matrixed environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills and proficiency in English are a must. Results oriented with a proactive approach towards shaping the external environment is critical.
