Job description Nuevocor is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical start-up dedicated to developing gene therapies to treat the underlying cause of genetic cardiomyopathies. Backed by an international syndicate of reputable venture capital firms, it will focus on advancing its lead program to clinical trials. It will also leverage its platform technology, underpinned by a deep understanding of cardiac cell biology and novel cardiotropic viral vectors, to discover and develop therapies for genetic cardiomyopathies. Nuevocor\xe2\x80\x99s Singapore R&D site is seeking to hire at the Director or Senior Director level to provide programme leadership in preclinical studies and development. You will be expected to lead a team and the respective workstreams to ensure deliverables and milestones are met. You will work closely with experts, consultants and external collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Direct preclinical development activities as part of a team for Nuevocor\xe2\x80\x99s gene therapy programmes. This includes design and implementation of appropriate in vitro and in vivo models for early- and late-stage preclinical studies, and design and execution of biodistribution, on- and off-target pharmacology, biomarker, toxicology and IND-enabling studies.
• Liaise and coordinate with Contract Research Organisations as required.
• Review and drafting of protocols and study reports.
• Preparation of pre-clinical pharmacology sections of IND submissions.
• Contribute to the preparation of relevant sections of pre-IND, IND, and other regulatory documents.
• Communicate and work with scientific collaborators, advisors or consultants
• Lead a team of scientists and research associates.
• Plan and keep close track of projects to ensure milestones are met
• Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company.
• Effectively communicate research outcomes and significance to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications expected

• PhD in Cardiac Biology, Pharmacology or related areas.
• Experience working in industry on preclinical development is expected.
• Experience in contributing to or drafting regulatory submissions such as pre-IND and IND is strongly preferred.
• Experience with rare genetic diseases or prior experience with gene therapy is desired.
• Must have significant experience in working with animal models, such as mouse genetic models of disease.
• Experience with outsourcing and overseeing non-clinical studies conducted by qualified CROs is preferred.
• Should have experience in a range of molecular and cell biology techniques, such as primary and immortalized cell culture, transfection, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and protein assays.
• Evidence of scientific leadership ability is required.
