Job description Nuevocor is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical start-up dedicated to developing gene therapies to treat the underlying cause of genetic cardiomyopathies. Backed by an international syndicate of reputable venture capital firms, it will focus on advancing its lead program to clinical trials. It will also leverage its platform technology, underpinned by a deep understanding of cardiac cell biology and novel cardiotropic viral vectors, to discover and develop therapies for genetic cardiomyopathies. Nuevocor\xe2\x80\x99s Singapore R&D site is seeking to hire at the Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist level to expand our capabilities at the stage of preclinical studies and development. You will be joining a close-knit team and will be expected to lead projects. You will liaise closely with other company scientists, external collaborators and direct research associates. Responsibilities
- Independently design, execute and troubleshoot:
- experiments to develop and optimise gene therapy constructs for the treatment of genetic cardiomyopathies
- in vivo experiments to test therapeutic candidates in mouse models of cardiomyopathy
- Document and interpret data to develop and improve experimental procedures
- Lead and supervise a small team of research associates
- Plan and keep close track of projects to ensure milestones are met
- Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company
- Prepare and present scientific updates internally and externally
- Liaise and coordinate with Contract Research Organisations as needed
- Communicate and work with scientific collaborators, advisors or consultants as required
- PhD in Cardiac Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related fields
- Experience working in industry on preclinical development is highly preferred
- Must have experience in working with animal models
- Experience in a range of molecular and cell biology techniques, such as primary and immortalized cell culture, transfection, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and protein assays is required
- Evidence of scientific leadership ability or potential, such as substantial post-PhD research work, development of independent projects is required
- Experience in leading a small team is preferred
- Background in cardiac genetics and disease, or cell structure and function (e.g. cytoskeleton cell biology), would be advantageous
