Job Description

Objectives of the Position:

• Ensure compliance with BASF Responsible CARE Management System, Environment Health & Safety (EHS), legal and regulatory to ensure license to operate.
• Maintain production facilities and utilities equipment at an adequate level to ensure desired plant availability at optimized maintenance cost.
• Lead Facilities maintenance planning, Corrective Repairs and Condition Monitoring programs for facility equipment
• Lead Small capex, Management of Change (MOC) & improvement projects
• Lead Bad Actor Management Program & perform Root Cause Analysis.
• Technical Expert for Machinery equipment.
• Responsibility for Maintenance support in terms of all Mechanical Engineering for Production and Facilities Equipment
• Execution of Project requirement in terms providing inputs to engineer optimized engineering solutions

• Upkeep of plant facilities through implementation of appropriate maintenance schedule and monitoring system.
• Establish and implement specifications, troubleshooting procedures, and ensure compliance with corporate requirements and procedures. Create/ Change and Modify SOP (Standard operating procedure) as and when required.
• Monitor and track all utilities consumption but not limited Nitrogen Gas (N2), Argon (Ar), Ultra Pure Water (UPW), Deionized (DI) water, Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Chemical consumption.
• Work closely with production, warehouse and equipment vendors to resolve equipment related issues to improve key equipment at the assign area.
• Negotiate and liaise with equipment vendor and spare parts supplier continuously to develop new methods to achieve low-cost maintenance system
• Lead and perform advanced troubleshooting of equipment problems and apply root cause analysis practices to equipment failure investigations. Able to back on site or stay back late in the event of machine hard down to recover the tool. 24 X 7 On call service support is mandatory
• According to project requirements, design, evaluate engineering capacity and timely organize/direct the fabrication/ installation/ move/remove/modifications of equipment/ machinery following specifications and quality standards to ensure the engineering support and machinery/equipment are in place to meet the demands.
• Support on major activities, process improvement, production optimization, new packaging qualification and product qualification.
• To coordinate/maintain plant maintenance, cleanliness and housekeeping activities among plant personnel, to achieve a good working & safe environment including inculcate efficiency improvement, culture of innovativeness, open communication and co-operation on plant maintenance
• Provide technical suggestion/feedback on spare parts directly to vendor or to purchasing department. Monitor and evaluate suppliers and contractors to ensure their services provide smooth operations in quality at reasonable costs while ensuring keeping within budget. This includes monitoring inventory level, timely replenishment of used spare parts for mechanical equipment and piping, leading optimization efforts to balance inventory & availability and carry out technical commercial negotiations with vendors.
• Provide engineering support to upkeep Santoku BASF utilities according to Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirement.
• Adhoc work as per assigned by F & E Manager and Site Management.
• Single point responsibility to lead Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Repairs and Condition Monitoring programs for rotating and static equipment
• Support to analyze and de-bottlenecks processes within the process plant and tank-farm to increase capacity where needed.
• Lead bad actor management program through Root Cause Analysis
• Develop and implement a RBM (Risk Based Maintenance) system for the plant
• Technical Expert for Mechanical Discipline - participates in Risk analysis and safety stops and provides documents as required
• For new projects - execution of mechanical commissioning and plant startup activities
• Understand and act upon the requirements of Quality’s policies, procedures and objectives relevant to quality control systems, ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 45001: 2018 & SS651:2019 Safety & Health Management Systems (S&H MS), to meet the Quality Objectives. Responsible to update all F&E related documents related to these requirements.
• According to BASF EHS requirements, implement the relevant safety and environment protection policies and procedures applied in the relevant Facility & Engineering (F&E) areas together with EHS Manager and Site Management.
• Be a part of Emergency Response Team (ERT) and safety Committee.
• Liaise with Authorities for Inspection statutory inspections of equipment & structures.
  • Strictly complying and following EHS responsibilities including using the required personal protective equipment (PPE) provided when performing tasks and provide feedbacks on EHS matters to immediate supervisor. This includes immediate reporting of all near miss including unsafe act/condition and incident.
  • Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments and determination of controls, if appropriate.
  • Participate in incident investigation, if appropriate.
  • Ensure contractor engaged in building works, engineering and construction comply with site EHS procedure.
  • Ensures all contractors under his charge attend appropriate safety induction training, adhere to all contractual and statutory requirements and EHS requirements.

• Minimum Diploma /Bachelor Degree in in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Chemical or Manufacturing industry.
• Technical & professional knowledge of Maintenance Management, Utilities Management, familiarity with international technical standards.
• Hands-on working skills on M & E, UPW and WWTP system
• Proficient knowledge of tools and methodologies like SPC, FMEA, Root cause Analysis and AutoCAD
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• High level of business acumen with quick response time
• Agile and adaptable to changes in business environment.
