What the role is:
The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. The HTxAI Products team is committed to empowering our Home Team Department (HTD)'s flagship projects through the seamless integration of AI technologies. From identifying opportunities to delivery, launch, and continuous enhancement, HTxAI aims to push boundaries and set new standards in homeland security. As an Engineer / Lead Engineer in HTxAI, you will be part of a dynamic engineering team that designs and develops AI-related solutions for Home Team use cases. We are looking for aspiring candidates with a passion for problem solving and solution development to fulfil a role in AI Products, HTxAI as AI Engineer, who is proactive and is able to design and develop machine learning / deep learning-based AI solutions with good software engineering experience. He / she will be working with product managers, software engineers, and different stakeholders to build capabilities for our Home Team officers.
What you will be working on:

• Develop, integrate and optimise AI/ML models to address Home Team use cases o Handle data pre-processing, engineering and annotation for model training and development o Work closely with the software engineers to write production-quality code and deploy AI products powered by AI/ML, RAG and agentic AI for use by Home Team on Cloud Platform (GCC) or on-prem infrastructure o Continually monitor and optimise performance of in-house developed AI solution through pre-training and post-training techniques. o Develop and deploy risk mitigation measures such as guardrails to ensure safe and responsible use of AI products, aligning with organisational standards and regulatory requirements. o Work closely with the Product Management team to translate product requirements into machine learning / deep learning model requirements o Provide technical advisory and review related technical articles to support key business decision and project decision making o Keep abreast of new AI technologies development and continuously improve HTxAI's AI engineering capability o Collaborate with external partners to co-develop novel AI solutions or enhance existing in-house solutions o Learn and share knowledge in a multi-disciplinary team both internally and externally

What we are looking for:

• Postgraduate / Tertiary qualification in any of the following: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or any relevant areas o Min. 2 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML and/or software engineering, including data preparation. o Min. 2 years of Python coding experience o Some working knowledge of AI/ML development, implementation and deployment is preferred o Familiar with open-source frameworks such as LangChain / LangGraph, and open models such as Llama 4 and GPT OSS. o Able to develop AI applications and deploy the applications using Docker containers with REST APIs o Practical experience with Kubernetes is strongly preferred o Able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams multi-disciplinary / multi-agencies teams o Able to communicate technical concepts and conduct demos in a clear and effective manner to stakeholders of varying technical background o Knowledge of emerging AI-related technologies and trends o Self-motivated, team player, creative with excellent communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently. o Having domain knowledge in Homeland Security sector will be a bonus o Applicants with more than 5 years' relevant experience will be considered for more senior positions All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
