What the role is:The Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX) is the first of its kind Science and Technology Agency in the world that brings together science and engineering capabilities across the Home Team Departments to transform the homeland security landscape and keep Singapore safe. The CBRNE Centre of Expertise develops proprietary and cutting-edge technologies to buttress Singapore\'s border security operations as the first line of defence against the entry of threats. As a Engineer/Lead Engineer, Threat Sensor Development in CBRNE COE, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to create innovative solutions that enhance Singapore\'s safety and security.What you will be working on:As a Engineer/Lead Engineer, Threat Sensor Development in CBRNE COE, you will be required to: a. Perform literature review, patent search and technology survey to scout for new emerging technologies and products/sensors that can detect and mitigate CBRNE threats. b. Support administratively Threat Scanning and Analytics team in seeking project budget, and making procurement to implement projects. c. Work in a team to i. evaluate products that can detect and mitigate CBRNE threats, ii. manage collaborative projects with industries, iii. Conduct small-scale in-house development and experimentation studies related to CBRNE threat detectors/sensors.What we are looking for:

  • Possess a good degree in Bachelor of Science/Engineering, exhibiting strength in Applied Physics or Physical Sciences. \xe2\x80\xa2 Possess digitalisation knowledge and preferably ability to perform simple algorithm development. \xe2\x80\xa2 Exhibit good writing skills (can be assisted by AI tools) \xe2\x80\xa2 Exhibit good team and collaborative spirit \xe2\x80\xa2 Preferably possess experience in working within multi-discipline teams of scientists and engineers. \xe2\x80\xa2 Required to participate in field studies to evaluate products and technologies for detecting CBRNE threats (sometimes in forms of simulants) and protecting personnel against CBRNE threats. \xe2\x80\xa2 Required to participate in lab activities and communicate with scientists to understand their workflow, so as to help in automation where possible. \xe2\x80\xa2 Required to assist Head (Threat Scanning and Analytics) perform periodic technology scan for cutting-edge technologies and products to detect CBRNE threats. \xe2\x80\xa2 Required to sometimes manage collaborative projects with industries. All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
