Job Description


We are looking for a dynamic team player with experience in environmental planning and assessment, and passion for Singapore\xe2\x80\x99s food security. You will be part of a team that will safeguard food safety, work on existing/upcoming food production developments in Singapore, and review risks/impacts to food safety due to other developments. Your main role will be to evaluate and assess development proposals submitted to SFA for land use and environmental consultation, and ensure that relevant measures are put in place to address any potential risks/impacts to food safety. This is a crucial role in our plans to optimise local food production and achieve our vision for food resilience and security. Given Singapore\xe2\x80\x99s fundamental spatial constraints, such dedicated efforts in upstream planning are key to manage and mitigate development-related food safety risks and disamenities.

  • Screening and evaluation of land and offshore development proposals submitted to SFA, including any pre-consultation and environmental consultation.
  • Coordination with internal SFA divisions to assess potential food safety risks and impact, due to development proposals submitted to us, taking into considerations existing and future agriculture/aquaculture development plans.
  • Work closely with agriculture/aquaculture development planners and represent SFA at external facing meetings to ensure that the needs of future agriculture/aquaculture development plans are adequately safeguarded. Interact with planning agencies to jointly resolve any planning issues.
  • Evaluation and assessment of and providing feedback for EIA and EMMP reports for development proposals that may impact existing and future agriculture/aquaculture developments. Close monitoring of progress of projects that are classified as high risk to food safety and production.
  • Analyse and identify any potential cumulative risks/impact to food safety arising from development proposals, pre-consultation and environmental consultation submitted to SFA.
  • Regular updates to SFA Management.
  • Any other works assigned to you from time to time.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental studies, or related/relevant disciplines. Fresh graduates with the relevant education certification may also apply.
  • Candidate with sufficient years of relevant working experience in environmental related work may also apply.
  • Proficiency in Autocad and ArcGIS for geospatial analysis and Microsoft Windows Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Knowledge in architecture/planning/graphics software (e.g. BIM, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator) will be an advantage.
  • Clear and concise writing skills, persuasive presentation skills, good communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Other Requirements
  • Prior experience in planning and environmental planning/management experience in the Singapore context will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and policies or resourceful to retrieve such information.
  • Self-starter, independent and resourceful. Responsible, willingness to learn and with a positive / "can-do" work attitude.
  • Meticulous with attention to details, good in numeracy, analytical and possesses good writing skills.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills. Service-oriented and committed to service excellence.
