For our APAC headquarters in Singapore we are looking for a ESG Manager | APAC (f/m/d) Key Responsibilities The ESG Manager, APAC is responsible for the proper implementation of the Aquila Capita For our APAC headquarters in Singapore we are looking for a ESG Manager | APAC (f/m/d) Key Responsibilities The ESG Manager, APAC is responsible for the proper implementation of the Aquila Capital's Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) and broader ESG policies in APAC. Working with investment and asset management teams, they will ensure appropriate measures are in place to ensure renewable energy projects are selected, planned, developed and operated to meet regulatory and internationally recognised ESG standards. Your responsibilities: Manage the implementation of Aquila Capital's ESMS in APAC, oversee the compilation of Environmental and Social (E&S) reports, report progress of the implementation of the ESMS to senior management, and communicate in appropriate format to regulatory authorities and other stakeholders. Assist with the deployment of Aquila Capital's ESG polices for renewable energy projects in APAC. Undertake due diligence assessments of potential renewable energy projects and present findings and risk mitigation recommendations to senior management. Support investment teams to identify site specific permitting and regulatory risks and develop ESG risk mitigation strategies. Support investment teams to ensure stakeholder engagement land acquisition policies are met and advise on steps to be taken to achieve compliance with regulatory and environmental and social (E&S) requirements. Commission Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and/or supplemental assessments (including resettlement action plans or livelihood restoration plans (if required) and ensure all projects incorporate recommendations from the ESIA. Prepare input for selection of external consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure tender documents contain all E&S requirements and assist with evaluation of tenders. Assess and monitor consultant's, contractors' suppliers' E&S compliance. Support asset management teams to review and approve EPC Contractors' ESMS to ensure they incorporate all Aquila Capital's ESMS requirements. Oversee EPC contractor's E&S management and performance on site, including review of EPC Contractor's weekly, monthly and incident reports to ensure they are meeting obligations for reporting to regulatory authorities, development financiers and affected communities. Oversee management of relationship with landowners, including any responsibilities designated in ESMS and community development plan. Provide E&S training to APAC employees, especially regarding corporate processes and developments in ESG matters and ensure relevant consultants and contractors have adequate E&S capacity and training. Coordinate monitoring and evaluation activities for E&S and confirm corrective actions are taken to address incidents and non-conformances. Effectively work with external ESG-related consultants when necessary and appropriate. Participate in professional, industry, and/or regulatory organizations and associations, as required, to help achieve Aquila Clean Energy strategic goals and complying with external requirements. Your qualifications and experience: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in environment management, engineering, climate change, social, or other relevant disciplines, additional training or qualifications in OHS an advantage. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience working on E&S management in the international context, with strong preference for experience in the private sector working on wind and solar PV projects. Experience of E&S management of energy or infrastructure projects through development, construction and operation, preferably in the Asia Pacific region. Understanding of requirements for the implementation of IFC and/or World Bank Group standards. Highest standards of professional ethics, integrity and judgment with demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters in a discreet and respectful manner. Diplomatic approach and calm under pressure. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust and relate well with a wide range of internal and external parties (including senior staff, management, local communities and clients) and develop solutions in potentially tense or conflicting situations. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team, influence and negotiate point of view within teams. Ability to communicate effectively and concisely on complex environmental and social issues in spoken and written form, in a manner that can be understood by non-experts. Exemplary project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Excellent teamwork skills and ability to partner with business and technical colleagues, external consultants and staff Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyse and synthesize diverse information sources, and draw conclusions from sometimes limited data. English fluency required (verbal and written). Other APAC language skills are an advantage. Willingness to travel regularly across the Asia Pacific region, including North and South East Asia.
