Job Purpose

An EV (Electric Vehicle) Battery Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, repair, and management of electric vehicle batteries. This role involves ensuring the optimal functioning and longevity of electric vehicle batteries to support efficient and sustainable transportation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain or replace electric vehicle batteries according to manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
• Conduct comprehensive tests to evaluate the performance, capacity, voltage, and overall health of electric vehicle batteries using specialized diagnostic tools and software.
• Analyse test results and data to identify potential issues and recommend necessary actions for battery optimization.
• Perform routine maintenance activities to extend the life and efficiency of electric vehicle batteries.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning batteries, including replacing faulty cells or components to restore performance.
• Update and maintain battery management systems (BMS) software to ensure accurate monitoring of battery performance and health.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with high-voltage systems and components.
• Follow proper handling and disposal procedures for hazardous materials associated with electric vehicle batteries.

Qualifications & Work Experience

Qualifications and Skills:

• Diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in electric vehicle battery technology is preferred.
• Experience in working with electric vehicle batteries or relevant electro-mechanical systems is desirable.
• Familiarity with EV battery types, charging infrastructure, and battery management systems (BMS).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Physical ability to handle and manipulate EV batteries and associated equipment.
• Understanding of safety regulations and procedures for working with high-voltage systems.
