Job Description




The NUS Museum and Baba House are University Museums belonging to the National University of SIngapore. The collections include Southeast Asian, Chinese, Indian materials including modern and contemporary art. The Baba House specialises in Straits Chinese materials. The strength of the Museum is in providing something no other museum in Singapore can: which is giving direct, first-hand access to its collections to students in teaching, research, and study.

The Community and Public Outreach Unit is a sub-unit of the NUS Museum\'s Outreach team. It oversees the development and customization of museum content for audience development in-campus and with the general public. This would involve the development and execution of general programmes (talks, walking tours, film series, exhibition openings), campus outreach & programmes (with NUS faculties and departments), overseeing the museum\'s branding identity (in coordination with Marcoms).

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director, Faculty and Community Engagements, the Executive, Campus Community & Public Engagement will facilitate a range of programmes to cater to the NUS community and to the public.

Museum Programmes

  • Develop public programs for NUS Museum, NUS Public Art Programme, and collaborate on programmes with NUS Baba House, to facilitate interdisciplinary engagement. Such Programmes include public talks, workshops, film and events in in collaboration with curators and the the outreach team.
  • Develop curatorial and interdisciplinary workshops such as Curating Lab and the Summer Series, and other visual culture programmes
  • Curating the NUS Museum Film Series
Campus Outreach
  • Management of Student Internship Programme and supporting Parallel programmes
  • NUS & NUS-wide Partnership Events (e.g. NUS Back to School, Student Life Fair)
Administration
  • Secretariat for Programmes Meetings
  • Support for Business Development needs (hosting tours for VIPs, providing copy for prospectuses; managing and disbursing incoming programme funds)
  • Collaborating with Marcoms to provide copy and content to establish the museum\'s branding and identity.
Requirements
  • Possessing a degree in interdisciplinary studies, global studies, visual studies or similar
  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant work experience, preferably within an arts institution and event management
  • Possess an interest in the intersections of art and the interdisciplinary
  • Ability to design and proficient in the use of design software
  • Proficient in IT, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking, bilingual skills advantageous
  • Meticulous with a keen attention for details
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work evenings and weekends to support museum\'s events
