Job Title Executive Director, National Health Innovation Centre Singapore (NHIC)

About NHIC About NHIC The National Health Innovation Centre Singapore (NHIC), is a nationally-appointed
Innovation and Enterprise Office that works with Public Health Institutions across Singapore to
identify and commercialise promising clinical innovations. We fund the translation and development
of medical innovations from Singapore’s clinical sector, and provide strategic guidance and
connection to industry partners, accelerating the pathway to impact in healthcare. NHIC
programmes catalyse the translation of clinical innovations towards commercially viable products
that benefit patients and healthcare. Established since 2014, we have supported many projects
and companies in the development and implementation of innovative medical technologies and
services, improving the standard of healthcare in Singapore and beyond. NHIC is part of the
Consortium for Clinical Research and Innovation Singapore (CRIS).

The Role:
You will be responsible to lead the National Health Innovation Centre Singapore (NHIC) with the
key objective of supporting the Singapore public healthcare community, facilitating translation of
quality health and biomedical technologies for commercialization and healthcare impact/benefits
for the Singapore clinical community.

This will include marketing and commercialization of intellectual property such as patents, projects
and grants developed through NHIC support, business development, and to foster and maintain
strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and support the clinical research sector with
innovation management and commercialization activities.

The NHIC is a business entity in CRIS and the Executive Director will serve at 0.2 FTE, reporting
to the CRIS/NHIC Board Oversight Committee.

Your responsibilities will include:  Facilitate, review and evaluate NHIC’s strategic directions.  Lead and execute NHIC’s organizational and business plans.  Oversee the performance of NHIC and manage the manpower and resources.  Foster strategic partnerships with industry and government partners, investors and academic
stakeholders.  Oversee medtech and biopharma projects, providing advice on aspects such as project
scoping, development plan, commercial outcome, competitive analysis, agreements and
facilitate the appropriate consultants and stakeholders to support these projects where as
appropriate.  Facilitate the support of technology development and commercialization to clinical clusters.  Facilitate cross agencies, industry partners’ collaborations in the area of translation of quality
health and biomedical technologies/projects for commercialization  Advise on clinical cluster innovation management and commercialization of IP.  Build and maintain relationships with clinical clusters and industry to facilitate IP
commercialization.  Reporting of NHIC activities to CRIS Board/NHIC Board Oversight Committee, NMRC Board,
HBMS and I&E domains.  Oversee the development and performance of NHIC staff.

Requirements:

Advanced degree in Medicine or Engineering; Candidates with a Degree in Medicine is
preferred.  A high degree of technical and business expertise with solid understanding of aspects
involved in commercialization of intellectual property.  Experience in technology-based business development/tech transfer experience with the
following activities: a. Technology marketing, business development, entrepreneurship, IP protection, and
licensing b. Advising on public-private agreements in the biomedical sector
c. Knowledge of IP law and patenting  Knowledge of medtech and/or therapeutics commercialization project management.  Minimum 10 years’ management experience with the ability to lead a team of highly
qualified professionals.  A strong passion for innovation and eagerness to contribute to the biomedical ecosystem.  Ability to work in a highly matrixed and dynamic environment, including ability to interact and
communicate to senior level executives.  Strong problem-solving and risk-based decision-making skills, with a strong ability to
influence or manage without direct authority.  Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.  Strong management skills and clear ability to influence and effectively align, motivate and
empower teams to progress project goals in a cross-functional matrix environment.

The former Singapore Clinical Research Institute Pte Ltd was repurposed to form CRIS which brings together five entities as business units under a common management and governance structure.
