Job Description




Duties and responsibilities of the incumbent, in the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, include, but are not limited to the following -

Digital and Social Media

  • Manage the museum\'s digital platforms (website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
  • Ensure information on on all platforms are updated and relevant.
  • Deliver clear, impactful narratives and key messages across all communications channels.
  • Keep up to date on social media trends and identify new opportunities to advance the museum\'s efforts in digital outreach.
  • Monitor and evaluate the museum\'s communications, including tracking media appearances and analysing social media metrics.
Content Production
  • Design and produce multi-media content across digital platforms.
  • Chronicle and communicate museum activities, including research and publications, education programmes and outreach events.
  • Create creative and engaging campaigns to promote the museum and/or stories of the museum\'s natural heritage to a wider audience beyond the scientific community.
  • Write articles for the museum\'s news blog which will include (but not limited to) interviewing museum staff and/or visitors, event updates or research highlights.
  • Explore and start a museum podcast that will discuss topics relating to biodiversity or museum developments etc.
  • Understand and follow the conversation around biodiversity conservation and research.
  • Ensure the effective and accurate delivery of messages in a consistent style and tone of voice.
  • Work with the Publications Officer to produce key corporate reports to capture the museum\'s efforts and achievements in research, education and outreach.
  • Assist in other museum activities as and when needed.
Media and Public Relations
  • Serve as liaison between museum, university corporate relations and traditional media.
  • Act as the museum\'s representative for all forms of interviews (e.g., radio, TV, news, online outlets, etc), including giving interviews and arranging interviews of museum staff.
  • Write press releases to deliver and shape positive coverage for the museum.
  • Build relationships with journalists from traditional and alternative news outlets in the fields of science, arts and culture.
Qualifications/Requirement/Other Info
  • Degree holder in fields of Communications and New Media, Marketing, Life Sciences, Environmental Studies and Geography is preferred;
  • 1-2 years\' experience in social media management, science communication, press and/or copywriting is advantageous, though fresh graduates who have passion and experience in communications are welcome to apply;
  • Candidate must have a strong command of the English language and is proficient in writing with a keen and creative mind;
  • Possess good design skills with experience in Canva and/or Adobe suite (Photoshop and Illustrator);
  • Display a keen interest in natural history, zoology, digital marketing and science communication;
  • Possess good organisational skills and is detail-oriented;
  • Possess basic photography and photo-editing skills;
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Takes initiative, and is willing to respond and adapt to opportunities;
  • Must be able to work independently and in a small team;
  • Open to working in both indoors and outdoors;
  • Responsible for his/her own learning process and development.
- Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with annual variable bonus which is subject to incumbent\'s performance and the University/School\'s prevailing remuneration policies.

- The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.
