What we are looking for:

The Blackpanda Finance team plays a crucial role in providing strategic financial support to the leadership team, maintaining the integrity of the financial accounts, custody of Blackpanda\'s assets, and fostering transparent, accurate, and timely information.

Blackpanda seeks a Finance Manager who is not just adept in number-crunching but is a strategic thinker, capable of steering the company\'s financial health toward sustained growth. This role demands an individual who can confidently own the financial accounts, ensure compliance, and manage risks, all while providing valuable financial insights that influence key business decisions.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, have a strong Finance and accounting background and relevant certifications, will be required to work cross-functionally and collaboratively, and provide independent viewpoints to senior leaders as required. You will be pivotal in building and nurturing a proficient team that not only manages day-to-day financial operations but also aligns financial strategies with Blackpanda\'s dynamic growth objectives. Your role will be instrumental in shaping the financial processes and systems, driving efficiency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have a history of enhancing financial frameworks and contributing significantly to the overall success of their previous organizations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with local standards, Group policies in IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the preparation of weekly expense reports and the compilation of other routine financial documents to facilitate quarterly reporting to the investors.
  • Own and drive Group month-end close process and enable accurate and efficient financial results and reporting within tight deadlines. If the accounting & reporting function is outsourced to a service provider, to liaise and review the work of the service provider.
  • Review and assist with YE Audits for Group entities and liaise with external auditors, tax and corporate secretarial agents.
  • Work closely with the Tax team to review Group tax filings and returns (e.g., withholding tax, GST, VAT, annual tax returns).
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning financial strategies with strategic planning initiatives.
  • Create quarterly and annual reports, fill financial data in the Board deck for investors, highlighting key business metrics and performance analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the business to support strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support documentation and audits for Grant initiatives in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Build and evolve upon existing internal controls, financial systems, and processes to ensure accuracy of financial reporting, integrity of corporate data, and finance governance and compliance.
  • Assist in the integration of new finance systems to improve efficiency and productivity within the Finance team and across all revenue touchpoints.
  • Adept with cash flow management and forecasting liquidity requirements
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or equivalent, or a recognised professional accounting qualification (i.e. CA, CPA or ACCA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or audit experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of end-to-end ownership of financial processes for an organization.
  • Strong project management skills to drive projects involving multiple stakeholders and tight timelines.
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment and has strong communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, laws, and any other compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Xero and other accounting software
What We Offer
  • 40 days paid leave per year inclusive of public holidays, which may be taken at the discretion of the employee subject to compliance with our Leave Policy and the approval of their manager.
  • Limited Work From Anywhere policy allotment, allowing for work from alternate locations contingent upon coverage provided by teammates and approved by manager for 10 days per quarter.
  • Monday through Thursday are required to be in-office; no scheduled internal meetings on Fridays, unless absolutely necessary.
  • Enrolment in the company\'s comprehensive corporate health plan that includes a large direct billing network for medical and dental coverage.
  • Opportunities for inter-office travel, including a required annual week-long Tribe Onsite meet-up.
  • $5000 USD/year for professional training budget contingent on approval from manager with 12-month retention requirement
