What the role is:The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. We are looking for a suitable candidate with passion for fire research and possesses fire safety engineering knowledge to support MHA in enhancing fire research and safety standards in Singapore. The job-holder will report to the Senior Assistant Director of the Fire Safety Department in SCDF.What you will be working on:Conduct fire tests and/or computer fire modelling simulations. Monitor fires of special interest and determine trends to improve fire safety. Publish analysis reports for fires of special interest. Develop practical applications from research to enhance fire safety. Publish and present fire safety research work at local and international fire safety platforms. Manage the Fire Research Centre, which includes overseeing the maintenance of the Centre and its equipment. Collaborate with relevant agencies to conduct fire research work at the Fire Research Centre.What we are looking for:Degree in Science or Engineering, preferably in fire safety engineering or any relevant discipline. At least 2-5 years relevant experience in fire research/safety is preferred. Preferably possess a good knowledge of the local Fire Code and Codes of Practices. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills Strong communication and writing skills. Team player with an inquisitive mindset.
