About the Department


We develop integrated products and services targeted at helping small and medium-sized enterprises across the region progress through different stages of growth. These include innovative solutions and initiatives in areas of working capital loans, operational efficiency and currency exposure. The most important role of Group Training & Development (T&D) is to ensure that country T&D effectively execute their in-country career development framework, new staff onboarding, and PIP coaching for weak performers. One key area of focus in staff development is leadership quality. Every leader (or would be leader) must go through a rigorous development programme before being certified fit for job. Such programmes include (non-exhaustive) HPL-BBW training, job rotations, mentorship partners and external accreditations. Group T&D shall regularly give feedback and share best practices across the countries. For example, the knowledge library of BBS known as “Centre of Excellence” is presented twice to the countries to provide them with good ideas while they’re all at different stages of building up their knowledge libraries. The T&D/engagement activities for our own GBB colleagues also come directly under responsibility of this role. There is a budget that must be catered for every year during the budgeting season for this purpose.

Job Responsibilities


  • Oversee training and development programs to align with the Group Business Banking (GBB) Operating Target Model.
  • Conduct half-yearly/yearly training and development needs assessment.
  • Coordinate and organize the Group Circle of Champion recognition program.
  • Monitor and ensure the High-Performance Leadership program in place.
  • Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities.
  • Review and ensure implementation of Career progression framework.
  • Review and select training materials from a variety of vendors.
  • Partner with Head of Sales, other members of the T&D within UOB, and Group Human Resources.
  • Maintaining budgets and relationships with vendors and consultants.
  • Report to the Group Head of Sales Performance & productivity and act as the go-to person within GBB for anyone who has questions about Learning & Development programs across countries.

Job Requirements


  • At least 10 to 12 years of experience in Talent Management, OD, consulting and/or managing projects and/or programs.
  • Previous experience leading others through influence and/or consulting skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint Skills.
