About the Role

This role provides the opportunity to apply and further build your financial and business knowledge in a dynamic environment to drive the performance of Swiss Re\'s Property & Casualty (P&C) business segment. You will support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) deliveries across Market Units in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. You will play a key role in supporting steering and performance management of the business.

You will be closely involved in the annual planning process, quarterly projections, financial analysis and performance measurement, helping to drive business decisions and gaining exposure to senior business leaders. You will also contribute to the assessment of transactions for markets across the region and will contribute to projects and ad hoc topics across the broader global Markets FP&A team.

As a member of the FP&A Markets team, you will join a collaborative team distributed around the world, where your views and ideas on driving improvements will be welcomed and encouraged. You will have strong analytical and reporting support from a team in Bangalore, India, as well as from the controlling and reporting team for the APAC region.

The core responsibilities of the FP&A Financial Analyst include:

  • Support the strategic finance business partnering of the Market Unit executives and their leadership teams across APAC;
  • Develop the annual financial plan for the unit, actively steering the portfolio;
  • Carry out quarterly P&C Analysis, including substantiation and reporting activities;
  • Deliver reporting of key renewal outcomes to senior management and contribute to the storyline for external releases;
  • Set quarterly business projections, challenging partners on growth expectations and validating the correctness of new business in the financial systems;
  • Provide quality analysis, storylines, and performance reporting;
  • Lead or contribute to ad hoc analysis and projects for the region, or the broader P&C segment; and
  • The opportunity to support the APAC markets with bespoke structured solutions (large transactions) as part of the deal team.
About the Team

The Asia FP&A team works closely with other finance teams both locally and globally, sharing knowledge and actively collaborating to drive continuous improvement within Finance. The role reports into the FP&A team, which operates within Finance Asia under the Asia CFO. The team maintains strong links to other regions and to the Finance teams for the Reinsurance business unit in Europe. The role is part of a community of FP&A Analysts, who are spread across five offices throughout the Asia region, making the ability to collaborate remotely an important skill for the position.

About You
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Natural Sciences or similar;
  • Several years of relevant work experience;
  • Good Knowledge of P&C (Re)insurance business and its key drivers of financial performance;
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to work with complex details and systems whilst applying good business judgement;
  • High degree of curiosity and flexibility to thrive in a global and dynamic business environment covering all lines of P&C business and regions;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of the organisation;
  • Great team member, who takes personal accountability and can work independently;
  • Excellent understanding of multi-valuation concepts such as IFRS, economic valuations or US GAAP;
  • Strategic, creative thinking with a desire for continuous improvement; and
  • Strong communicator, able to explain complex matters in a concise and clear fashion.
