About the Role
Your role is based in Singapore. You will report into the Global Procurement Director, Active Ingredients and Intermediates. As the Global Category Manager, you are responsible for contract manufacturing/tolling globally with a total global spend of $800M, including all active ingredients and intermediates. You are also responsible for the growth, development, and professional happiness of two to three fantastic Sourcing Managers, located in the Asia Pacific and EMEA regions. This role requires 20-30% international travel.

The successful candidate will have an acute awareness of geopolitical and market conditions and know when to use the information to drive further value for FMC. You will have mastered the technical expertise and skills required to negotiate, contract and deliver the best value while ensuring reliability of supply, quality and service for a highly regulated industry. Develop, articulate and implement the category strategy and differentiate value drivers such as oil and currency fluctuations from market dynamics.

You can anticipate the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop, refine and implement a global category strategy for Tolling/Contract Manufacturing of AIs and intermediates
    • Engage continuously with stakeholders in the business, procurement, and suppliers
    • Regularly review, update, and refine category strategy in line with business strategy and objectives
    • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost by challenging and continuously improving how the business receives materials
Responsible and accountable for Contract /Toll manufacturing, supplier negotiations, and relationship management
  • Negotiate, develop, and facilitate contracts and agreements
  • Develop and lead global and regional supplier relationship programs
  • Work closely with Operations Teams for supply continuity
  • Develop price control strategies based on total cost of ownership and product life cycle which include analysis of manufacturing process, understanding raw materials cost structure and factors that impact their cost
  • Apply best-in-class procurement processes and technology to enhance the efficiency of the process; utilizes all key enabling tools, such as spend performance management, Ariba, contract management, etc.
  • Accountable for annual budget, as well as monthly price forecasting
Ensure security and reliability of supply from Contract/Toll manufacturing network
  • Collaborate with R&D, QA/QC, manufacturing, supply chain and regulatory to qualify new sources of supply and to seek value engineering opportunities to lower total cost of products
  • Maintain or establish multiple sources of supply
  • Maintain a properly qualified, highly reliable, and agile network of contract manufacturers while balancing risk associated with geography and market fluctuation
Growth and development of the team
  • Work closely with team of Sourcing Managers to ensure implementation of sourcing strategies and to develop skills and capabilities of the emerging talent

We also expect that you possess the following qualities:

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other equivalent science subjects; MBA in business management desired
  • Strong understanding of Procurement processes and their integration points to Supply Chain, Operations and Finance to lead a center led global team
  • Demonstrated expertise in chemical manufacturing technology
  • S/4 HANA experience is a plus
  • Financial and Business acumen is a requirement
  • Experience negotiator with demonstrated track record
  • Develop inclusive relationships at different levels of the organization
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences
  • Ability to influence sound decision making
  • Ability to adjust and lead others through rapidly changing environments and priorities
