Role Responsibilities

The Global Head, Payments (GHP) supports GH Cash in driving strategy and P&L for Payments products. This role requires a strong profile who can provide strategic leadership, influence and alignment of stakeholders to deliver the financial results, whilst driving effective development and execution of a future-ready business:

  • Elevate and strategically drive the banks mandate around Payments globally
  • Accountable to define, execute and commercialize the Product Strategy for Payments in line with Cash Strategy priorities (Pillars)
  • Ensure Payments Products are fit-for-purpose and market leading
  • Own and drive innovation insights for supporting infrastructure, manage design, development and/or transformation of our Payments product suite, platforms, together with product development teams
  • Responsible for the execution of our Payments regulatory, Group commitments
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders involved in Payments product strategy delivery
  • Foster talent - manage the Payments team, leadership role model for wider Cash management universe

Product Strategy and Development
  • Redefine our Payments capabilities and value with regards to Blockchain, Crypto and Digital currency capabilities
  • Deliver the strategy, results and execution around New Economy clients
  • Derive and implement a focus and approach to capture substantial growth around E-Commerce
  • Define, own and execute the innovation strategy for Payments infrastructure including identifying market partnerships to deliver those CVPs as and when necessary
  • Drive thought leadership for the business (along with stakeholders in ITO, FCC and CIB), ensuring an evolution towards the business models of the future
  • Establish (refreshed or new) Payments client value propositions (CVP) in line with broader Cash business strategy. Combine best-practice, market leader thinking, execute and work with RM and Sales teams to commercialize propositions across the client base such as (non-exhaustive):
    • Virtual / Corporate Cards
    • Digital wallets capabilities
    • End-to-end cross-border Payments experience via API
  • Redefine Cross Border and Correspondent banking Payments proposition in Cash
  • Help drive product Ownership for TBFX, as part of the new joint venture announced between TB and FM to drive increased TBFX revenues
  • Develop, deliver, commercialize and ensure end to end governance of all Payments Products for CCIB clients globally - establish yearly product priorities, ensure Sales are aligned against these priorities, measure incremental impact
  • Define, own and execute the strategy around ISO 20022 roll-out and its impact across the bank

Client Engagement
  • Responsible for E2E Payments client journeys including servicing. Expert at understanding evolving client needs and proactive to identify necessary enhancements/ new solutions
  • Develop key client relationships to drive the business priorities

Financial Performance
  • Help drive P&L: TB Fee budget for all products (Payments and Collections) is $540m for 2021
  • Define meaningful future revenue streams in line with the identified new or enhanced product strategy
  • In conjunction with Banking partners, ensure appropriate sales coverage of clients and their revenue delivery against targets
  • Manage both cost and investment of product build, through optimized implementation plans
  • Manage process design work with Operations, Technology and other function partners with the aim of translating process optimization to bottom line cost control with a high degree of reliability

Governance, Conduct and Risk Management
  • Accountable for Payments product risks. Defines pricing guidelines and processes for the product. Maintain timely renewal of global PPGs and Product Shelf Reviews
  • Ensure full adherence to all conduct, risk guidelines and policies, address any breaches promptly and decisively. Role models the right behaviours
  • Effectively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters in a timely manner
  • Conduct regulatory reviews on the products in partnership with Legal and Compliance
  • Measure and report periodically against above conduct and risk frameworks

  • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct, to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees
  • Understand and ensure compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines including those governing securities activities, company law, anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions; the Group’s policies and procedures; and the Group Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of the role. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters.
  • Build deep and comprehensive knowledge of regulations and initiatives of industry bodies to stay ahead of the regulatory change agenda and how it affects the product lifecycle
  • Make available requested information to regulators and monitor as required; be available for liaising with regulators and monitor as per need

Stakeholder Management
  • Present client and product updates to relevant organization partners internally (wider TB, Tech & Ops, DCDA, Coverage, other product partners, functions such as Risk, L&C etc)
  • Manage internal and external teams to deliver product strategy or infrastructure enhancements
  • Represent Cash organization externally either via client sponsorship, effective partner engagement or with other industry stakeholders as and when required



Our Ideal Candidate
  • Rich client experience and deep understanding of institution’s working capital management, commercial terms, ERP system arrangement and payment and collection processes.
  • Strong market knowledge and understand the history, current and future of payment and receivables journey, i.e. B2B & C2B flow, cross-border & FX, e-commerce & latest technology deployment,
  • Extensive experience with relevant working experience in payment and receivables business management
  • Working capital management experience, corporate treasury experience, and/or financial consulting experience are/is preferred.
  • Current knowledge of trends in global regulatory changes and new clearing system trend.
  • Experience of managing a team and / or experience across sales, product and implementation of transaction banking business. Able to lead a team of professionals and motivate individuals
  • Highly creative with the ability to mould ideas into commercial realities
