We are looking for a Group Manager to lead the R&D Singapore Science & Technology team to drive cross-category agility & locally relevant innovation. In this position, you will support the development of R&D Singapore based science resources to ensure scientific quality and competence by driving scientific innovation for agile & locally relevant innovation. You will apply scientific knowledge to product and process mastership and leverage the Nestle-Wide R&D capabilities relevant for the business. You will engage in R&D Expert Networks and Task Forces to share knowledge and collaborate across businesses and interact with the NRC, R&D Expert Networks and Task Forces in building cross business S&T roadmaps, leveraging knowledge and identify opportunities to transfer scientists within R&D and across functions.

A day in the life of...

• Drive innovation (Biotransformation and Flavour and Structure Design) within the ASEAN businesses
• Develop business specific S&T roadmaps for key categories
• Drive the translation of scientific discoveries into business relevant Science & Technology Building Blocks
• Leverage knowledge from NR, R&D Expert Networks, Task Forces and other businesses
• Liaise with external partners from industry and academia to enhance internal scientific competence, identify, jointly develop and insource technologies
• Ensure adequate protection of generated knowledge
• Develop business specific scientific competencies enabling innovation/renovation and manufacturing excellence
• Organize Science & Technology days and ensure content and agenda drive relevant output
• Lead science resources to sustainably build and maintain R&D expertise on key business specific S&T areas
• Concentrate scientific expertise on categories; resources are exceptionally shared between categories where such concentration is not possible.
• Provide scientific support to business specific Product and Application Groups

What will make you successful

• PhD in chemistry, microbiology, food science and technology or related disciplines
• At least 10 years work experience in R&D or related environment
• Has a minimum 5 years experience in managing projects
• Has a minimum 1 year experience in Operations and/or technical/commercial function in SBU (through missions or assignments)
• Has successfully led a larger group of people and has developed people
• Has managed a matrix like structure in an functionally structured environment.
• Has demonstrated the courage and ability to take decisions and solve problems.
• Has proven communication skills (Presents confidently and convincingly to steering committees. Has participated in Strategic Conferences.)
• Has experience in the briefing process
