Job Description


What the role is:The Head of AI Governance will be part of a dynamic team that will design, develop and implement a comprehensive AI Governance strategy and playbook that aligns with the organizational goals in collaboration with cross-functional teams, and ensuring its effective implementation ensuring responsible AI adoption across home team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in policy-planning, AI, ethics and governance with experience in red-teaming to test AI systems for robustness, security and safety.What you will be working on:

  • Lead the development of the AI Governance strategy which outlines the objectives and guidelines for responsible AI development, deployment, and usage. \xe2\x80\xa2 The AI Governance strategy should cover risks and challenges associated with AI such as explainability, fairness, privacy, security, accountability, transparency, ethics, robustness, reliability, sustainability etc., while aligning with organizational values and principles. \xe2\x80\xa2 Lead the development and implementation of the AI Governance playbook that aids operationalization of the AI governance strategy, providing a structured approach to navigating AI governance challenges and opportunities \xe2\x80\xa2 Establish metrics and monitoring processes, and collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to ensure AI systems are designed, and trained with safety and ethics in mind, and operating within established governance boundaries \xe2\x80\xa2 Work closely with cross-functional teams to influence considerations of AI-related risks from throughout the entire product development lifecycle and deployment decisions \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct red teaming exercises to identify potential AI safety risks and develop mitigation strategies \xe2\x80\xa2 Continuously review the AI governance strategy and playbook, update regularly to ensure ongoing relevance and effectiveness \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide technical guidance and mentorship to ensure responsible AI development and deployment across the organization. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide regular reports and insights to leadership and stakeholders on AI Governance performance \xe2\x80\xa2 Carry out strategic foresighting and research to help in the formulation of future scenarios and to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of the AI Governance policies and practices, and to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Home Team.
What we are looking for:
  • Postgraduate / Tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, information systems or other quantitative/ analytical fields. \xe2\x80\xa2 Min 8 years\' experience in technology development of which min 3 years\' experience in delivering large scale projects with multi-sites deployment and proven track records \xe2\x80\xa2 Proven track record of technical leadership and expertise in AI governance and compliance \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in developing and implementing AI governance frameworks, policies, and procedures \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in trust and safety in AI adoption, including bias mitigation and ethical considerations \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in data management, data governance, and data privacy \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in risk management, compliance, and auditing \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong interest in technologies and innovation with experience or knowledge of AI/ML, Data Science and Data Analytics. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and trends \xe2\x80\xa2 Good facilitation skills, extensive organising capabilities and strategic foresight \xe2\x80\xa2 Good verbal and written communication skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Having domain knowledge in Homeland Security sector will be an added bonusHaving domain knowledge in Homeland Security sector will be an added bonus All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
