Head of Analytics, IT



Reports to Chief Operating Officer (with dotted line reporting to HOO)


Position Summary:


The Role leads the Analytics team and takes the responsibility of the quality and timeliness of Analytics project deliveries and internal research and development produced by the Analytics team, which aim to enable HVAC system and asset management team to make better decisions that improve the productivity, quality and efficiency of systems

A Head of Analytics is responsible for the team’s development including external recruitment and internal progression of the members in the Analytics team. A Head of Analytics is also responsible for representing the Analytics team and occasionally the company in various internal and external meetings in order to present Analytical projects or assess and develop new project opportunities. A Head of Analytics is an analytical technical authority within the Analytics team and provides continuous support and advice on technical projects for other members within the team.

The role is responsible for the design and configuration of the company’s HVAC control systems to meet the intent of the project requirements and ensure the achievement of energy savings. The role is also accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs, and drive software programming, commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the control system.

The position plays a leading role in the design and development of new systems and in the optimization of existing devices and technologies. The role will oversee both improving existing systems and technologies and developing new products and systems that can add value to the company in the long run.

The role is also responsible for managing design and troubleshooting IT infrastructure and ensuring compliances of ISO 27001.


Responsibilities:


Advanced Analytics


• Leadership of the Analytics team and line management of Analysts, including performance management and evaluation, regular meetings to discuss workload and personal development

• Overall responsibility and accountability for the quality and timeliness of the project deliveries, resource management, technical support for team members and communication of the progress to the Senior Leadership Team

• Managing day-to-day operations in the Analytics team alongside Lead Research Analysts, including prioritisation, project assignment, project pipeline, workload management, and risk management.

• Being accountable for the quality of the analytical deliveries and conducting and managing the quality assurance of the outputs produced by the Analytics team

• Enhancing and developing data analytics strategies in view of improving HVAC plants system efficiency, reliability and improve productivity.

• Develop the analytics solutions which can plug and play and scalable with low or no customisation

• Building and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally in order to facilitate Analytics’ involvement with projects across all business areas and development of new analytical project opportunities

• Ensuring knowledge and experience is shared within the team and the wider business

• Driving the ideas generation for research and development work within the Analytics team

• Showing initiative in implementing improvements to products and processes within the business

• Further developing domain knowledge in HVAC system and analytical methods used in the industry

• Further developing technical skills, including analytical software and advanced analytical methods


IT Security and Systems


• Monitoring and maintaining networks and servers.

• Upgrading, installing and configuring new hardware and software to meet company objectives.

• Creating user accounts and performing access control.

• Performing diagnostic tests and debugging procedures to optimize computer systems.

• Designing and implementing efficient end-user feedback and error reporting systems.

• Supervising and mentoring IT department employees, as well as providing IT support.

• Keeping up to date with advancements and best practices in IT administration.

• Ensure the compliances of ISO 27001

• Ensure that IT systems and applications within our organization meet the needs of the business while adhering to security best-practices, compliance and regulatory requirements

• To advise the management on all security matters and sets directions for complying with regulatory inquiries, inspections and audits

• Communicating digital programmes and cybersecurity strategy to a range of stakeholders and provide sound security advice

• To advise the project team in clarifying the organization’s IT Security standards and to review the functional specifications and technical specifications of the project to ensure adequate security controls are in places throughout all systems and platforms to mitigate identified security risks sufficiently

• Establish security architecture to align to Group Cyber Resilience

• Drive security strategies and implementing IT solutions to minimise the risk of cyber-attacks

• To raise the cybersurity awareness among the organisation


Drive documentation for clients and support internal parties

• Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation team and subcontractors

• Assist in Preparing Operating and Maintenance manual, where directly involved

• Assist in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the analytics and control system

• Attend regular project meetings with project team when required

• Coordinate with project management for scheduling and system installation


Execute the product development roadmap


• Support the COO to develop and then implement the Company product and technology roadmap

• Investigate quality, internal and client complains to identify areas of improvement opportunity

• Analyze problems in design, process and test development, and recommend solutions

• Develop and prioritize, with the input of the COO, concrete projects to bring the technology roadmap to life

• Initiate and implement innovation and development projects

• Lead cross-functional product development and product refinement teams

• Analyze system, sub-system design, integration

• Create product specifications

• Optimize cost/function/features including material selection

• Develop physical and functional test requirements to meet Company specifications and regulations

• Coordinates/develops validation studies on equipment, systems and processes

• Identify and appropriately address product and technology risks for new and updated developments

• Research alternative materials, devices and related costs and potential exchangeability with current products to increase internal efficiency, reduce cost, and/or add value to clients

Stay updated with latest product technologies

• Stay current with technical advances, systems and business models that are relevant to Company through education, training, and technical research

• Research to track new technologies developed in competitive companies as well as academic papers published by engineering experts

Cooperate with and inform internal stakeholders

• Provide regular updates on the status of the technology roadmap

• Support communication internally and with clients around product development topics

• Interface with local and regional team members to ensure smooth introduction of new and/or improved products and systems to clients

• Train internal teams on new and improved products, their application, usage and features


Manages and develop the team


• Development of the Analytics, automation and IT team, including recruitment to fill the vacancies, supervising induction programme for new team members, and driving training and development of technical skills within the team

• Hire, develop and help train key talent engineers

• Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance.

Qualifications:

• Degree in computer engineering or IT or engineering or a scientific discipline with demonstration of excellent analytical skills

• Experience in an analytical role in the HVAC industry

• Knowledge of IT, Cybersecurity, PLC and SCADA

Skills and Experience: • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Data Analytics development • Minimum 5 years or more of experience in product development and R&D • Knowledge of analytical programming language (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, R, Python) • PLC programming (preferably Siemens TIA/Simatic Manager) and familiar with Wonderware System Platform a strong plus. • Extensive experience with IT systems, networks, and related technologies. • Solid knowledge of best practices in IT administration and system security. • Good knowledge in control engineering equipment/instruments such as VSD, Flow meters, Power meters, temperature sensors, etc. • Well versed with automation engineering (Closed loop Controls, PLC, Building Automation Systems) • Prior experience in project management for R&D projects strongly preferred • Long-term thinker, keeps focus on long-term goal • Agile mindset, works in short sprints to constantly embed feedback received in product development and improvement • Great listener – genuinely interested in continuous feedback from colleagues, clients and management alike • Able to work well both independently and as part of an agile team • Able to connect the dots • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Is not afraid of failures, and has a curious mindset – continuously learning from mistakes Able to work independently • Organized and detail oriented • Results driven • Demonstrated enthusiasm and capacity to learn new technologies quickly • Curious and eager to learn and make an impact
