Role Responsibilities
TTO is a 40k+ person, $4bn cost base organisation that provides change technology solutions and operational excellence for the bank. TTO is a fast-paced environment undergoing significant transformation.
This role is responsible for the performance management of the Global Operations Functions, covering a wide breadth of topics and stakeholders in a dynamic and fast pace working environment. It is an integral role in driving effective cost and headcount management for the COO function of the bank and a critical senior member of the Global TTO Finance Leadership Team in supporting the overall TTO Productivity agenda.

Business Advisory, Reporting and Analytics

  • Drive effective Finance business partnership with, and independent challenge of, the Operations function to drive targeted cost management outcomes.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of the operations cost base and provide finance support in the strategic journey towards identifying cost synergies across the TTO organizations.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, influencing the business to drive alignment across the organization and challenge bottom up plans if not aligned to overall TTO strategy and ambition.
  • Provide advisory support on the development of strategic plans and new initiatives / mandates from a financial perspective. This includes robust cost and headcount planning to determine 5 year cost targets, headcount shape and initiatives / priorities for the Operations function.
  • Develop and embed quality MI and analytics to deliver insights and visibility on cost performance and productivity attainment.
  • Drive an end-to-end client-journey view of the group's expense base and unit costs.
  • Leverage commercial acumen and understanding of cost drivers and industry benchmarks to identify cost and productivity opportunities.
  • Lead, influence and support cost and headcount performance reviews, ensuring the provision of valuable insights into the drivers of Operations performance. Provide risks and opportunities and drive actions to ensure committed financial outcome.
  • Manage the month-end and BAU requirements, including ownership and control over all cost processes, including cost recharges, accounting and control.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Business Finance (Product and Group Cost teams) and other teams within Group Finance to ensure consistency of support, approach and knowledge-sharing. Work with upstream and downstream teams to ensure that there is transparency in the numbers and process.
Change and Innovation
  • Drive and execute an ambitious digital MI agenda which aims to improve MI experience for stakeholders and also double down on finance process efficiencies.
  • Champion on 'continuous improvement' activities / initiatives across P2P team for reports simplification and standardization, enhanced commercial analytics, forward-looking MI, effective & efficient processes and controls, optimization of activities between Onshore and P2P support teams.
  • Support finance activities relating to business re-alignment and restructures including change management and re-statement of management reporting, corporate plans, reporting structures and financial systems, as well as tracking and reporting of Productivity.
  • Active involvement and participation in TTO Finance and Group Finance projects.
People and Culture
  • Employ, engage and retain a successful high performing team, ensuring that each individual achieves their potential and that the team delivers its collective agenda.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the broader TTO Finance teams.
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and drive a business partnership mindset.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development, ensure that all team members are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks, including review of team structure / capacity plans.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Guide, inspire and motivate the Ops Finance P2P team - as their mentor and investing in their growth plans.
Risk Management
  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group.
  • Interpret the Group's financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility including listing requirements and disclosure obligations.
Governance
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • University educated
  • Qualified Accountant i.e. CPA, CMA, ACCA.
  • Finance experience of 15+ years or more in financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity of technology and operations recharge models.
  • Proven track record and extensive experience in managing costs, preferably in operations or technology space.
  • Strong knowledge and application of strategic cost and headcount management.
  • Familiarity with the bank's financial systems and control frameworks.
  • Certifications in Business Intelligence / Analytics / Digital Finance.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, combined with maturity and confidence to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen, with a sense of materiality and decision-making capability.
