The team you will be a part of

The Head of Government Affairs \xe2\x80\x93 Southeast Asia (SEA) is responsible for Nokia\xe2\x80\x99s engagements and advocacy activities towards state and local governments and key industry groups throughout the Southeast Asia region. This includes Myanmar, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia. The role supports Nokia Southeast Asia\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives, technology thought-leadership and the Nokia brand and purpose.

What you will learn and contribute to

The Head of Government Affairs \xe2\x80\x93 SEA will contribute to Nokia\xe2\x80\x99s competitiveness in the region by proactively engaging with key government and industry stakeholders, influencing policy and regulatory environments while addressing issues and opportunities relevant to Nokia SEA\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Develop and execute Nokia\xe2\x80\x99s government and industry related advocacy strategy, acting as the key interface between Nokia and governments, regulators, industry and trade associations and business delegations.
  • Be responsible for positioning Nokia as a trusted advisor to help shape policy and regulation to support a conducive business environment and Nokia\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives.
  • Work very closely with the local country management teams to create country level strategies and vision.
  • Navigate the complex geopolitical environment and engage on issues of interest to the company such as spectrum regulation, security and cyber security, critical and emerging technology telecommunications and the digitisation of industry, and intellectual property amongst others.
  • Lead engagement with key stakeholders to seek and develop funding and financing opportunities as well as identify and manage opportunities for participation in industry panels, events and international business delegations.
  • Be part of the Government Affairs International team and reports to the Head of Government Affairs \xe2\x80\x93 Asia Pacific and Japan.
  • Work closely with market unit and country heads across the region and their teams to align on and contribute to the regional business objectives.
  • Work with a variety of Nokia functions (Corporate Affairs, Legal, Customer Experience, Business Groups, Strategy & Technology), in developing advocacy.
  • The position will require extensive travel across the region, diplomacy and the ability to work in a multi-cultural and diverse environment. This is an operational position that will require hands on transactional support in addition to the broader regional strategy.
Your skills and experience

You have:
  • Minimum ten years of operational experience in government affairs, corporate affairs and/or senior level experience in complex geopolitical environment
  • Extensive knowledge and proven history of working with government departments and ministries
  • Demonstrated experience influencing and leveraging relationships at a senior level to support business objectives
  • Ability to set and execute regional and local country strategies aligned with and influencing business outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience with government processes including business case and funding development, issues management and parliamentary queries
  • Familiarity with key trade associations within the information and communications technology sector (ICT)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • The ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a complex environment where flexibility and influencing skills are essential.
It would be nice if you also have:
  • Established relationships within government particularly within SEA (i.e., Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia)
  • Graduate education in public policy or law.
